I've had my fair share of vet visits as a pet owner, but my most recent experience at Aurora Veterinary Hospital in Lipeck left me impressed. When we first got our cat, we went to the doctor a few times for shots and nail trimming - our cat's not exactly cooperative when it comes to nail clippers, so we needed two people to hold her and one to trim, but we eventually stopped doing that.
When our kitten joined the family, vet visits didn't become more frequent - only for shots, and not very often. And every time, we made an appointment. I guess you could say we were pretty responsible pet owners.
But a couple of years ago, we had to find a vet in a hurry. Our cat got into the trash, ate half a plastic container, and we didn't realize what happened until the next morning. I noticed he was a bit puffed up, but I thought our cat had just been overfed, and he wasn't even asking for food. Then he started vomiting, and it was pretty unexpected to see this weird substance coming out of his mouth. I even didn't understand what it was at first. Then I saw the mangled container near the trash can, and everything clicked into place.
For several hours, he just sat under the bed, not eating or drinking, just looking miserable. I started calling around to vets, but it was a Friday evening, and everywhere was booked solid. Luckily, we managed to get an appointment at Aurora, and they said we'd have to wait in line, but we agreed to wait as long as needed to help our cat.
We're lucky to have two Aurora clinics in Lipeck, and they told us to come to the Novolipeck district. We registered at the front desk and were told to wait. We waited for over an hour, but there were a lot of other patients who came in at their scheduled times and saw different doctors.
By this time, our cat's vomiting had stopped, but he was clearly still not feeling well, so he just sat quietly in his carrier, waiting for his turn.
Eventually, we were seen by the clinic's founder, who has amazing reviews. I wasn't sure who we'd be seeing, but I really hoped it would be her. She examined our cat, did an ultrasound to check for any remaining plastic in his digestive system, and thankfully, no surgery was needed. But they did find some damage to his mucous membranes.
Then they took him to a drip, which he stayed on for about an hour. It definitely helped him feel better - at first, he looked pretty miserable, but by the end, he was trying to wriggle out of his special blanket.
They gave us some medication for his digestive system and a special diet. By the way, the medication is meant for humans, and my husband ended up taking it when he had some digestive issues of his own. We jokingly called it 'cat medication'.

After we got home, our kitten was back to normal in no time. Although he refused to eat the special food, he was happy to go back to his regular diet.
The clinic is in a separate building, with two floors, I think. But we only went to the first floor.

We were impressed by how clean the corridors and consultation rooms were. There were even comfortable seats for visitors to sit on.
You can also buy pet supplies, including food, at reasonable prices.

For the convenience of visitors, there's even a cooler available.
I have to say that we didn't experience a huge queue. The clinic operates by appointment, so we just had to wait for a bit until the previous patients were seen.
Our cat had a great experience here, too - we brought him in for a neutering procedure and everything went smoothly. They returned him to us in perfect health.

The equipment is all in good condition, and there's a separate procedure room. I'm not sure how modern the equipment is, but it looks new.

We've also brought in a dog that wasn't our pet, but we were taking care of it temporarily. The dog was quite large, and we couldn't take it in, so we found a private home on the next street to board it. We'd take it for walks and feed it, but one day it escaped, and when it returned, we noticed it was licking its tail obsessively. The fur on its tail was thick, and we could only see a small wound. We're not sure if it was bitten by another animal or if it got its tail caught in something - we just don't know.
We started treating the wound with ointment and bandages, but the dog would constantly lick the ointment off and rip off the bandages. If we put a collar on it, the dog would just take it off. One day, it even gnawed off the end of its own tail. I guess it was really painful.
We came back to Aurora, and they scheduled us for the next day. After the examination, the doctor said that the dog needed surgery, and a big part of its tail would have to be amputated because of the severe inflammation. He said that during the recovery period, the dog would have to avoid licking its stitches.
The surgery went smoothly, and the stitches were done perfectly. Later, we came back for a follow-up appointment, and everything was going according to plan. Our dog's remaining tail section eventually healed, although it did try to lick its stitches occasionally. However, someone who lived in the adjacent house took the dog in to look after it during the recovery period and made sure it wore a collar to prevent it from licking its stitches.
Veterinary Hospital "Aurora", Lipetsk
I've gotta say, Aurora is a top-notch clinic. You can tell they genuinely care about the animals and are really gentle. If an animal doesn't want to interact, they ask the owner to hold it and stay close by.
As for prices, they're pretty average – similar to what you'd find at other clinics in our city.
They don't prescribe expensive meds. For my cat, the whole treatment only cost around 150 rubles, and for my dog, the antibiotic wasn't cheap, but it was worth it to get the infection under control.
I'd highly recommend Aurora. We'll definitely be going back.
