Hello everyone!
I've been a fan of Asya Lavrinovich's work for a while now, and I'm always excited to dive into her latest stories.
About the book:
Price - around 500 rubles.Release year - 2022.Publisher - Eksmo.Series "Young Adult. Instahit. Romance".Where to buy? Online marketplaces and bookstores.
Design
The book comes in a hardcover with a pretty cover design that really catches your eye. Asya's books are known for their feminine style, and this one's no exception.
The back cover has a blurb that really drew me in - I love stories like this.
The book's got 320 pages, which is a standard size for a novel. It's easy to read and gets you hooked from the start.
Characteristics:
Number of pages - 320.Book size - 207x131x20 mm.
Structure
There are no illustrations inside, but the story's divided into chapters that alternate between Alena's and Dima's perspectives. This makes the story feel more layered and engaging.
The font's a standard size, so my eyes didn't get tired while reading.
Book Summary:
The saying goes that it takes just 90 seconds to fall in love. But that rule only applies to the truly beautiful.
I'm not exactly a beauty, and I definitely didn't plan on making a silly bet with my friend to fall in love with the first guy I met in under two and a half minutes.
My friend Dima's always been a ladies' man. Maybe it's because he's a total charmer, but he's always up for a challenge. He bet his best friend that it's not about looks, and even the most ridiculous outfit and haircut wouldn't stop him from winning over any girl's heart. And guess who just happened to be the girl in question?
About the Book:
This book's all about friendship, love, and embracing who you are. It's suitable for readers 16+, and trust me, there's nothing too racy in here.
Plot (in my own words, no spoilers!)
My friend Ksyusha dared me to pretend to be a high-society girl and fall in love with the first guy I met. Meanwhile, Dima bet his friend that looks don't matter, and even if he looked like a total mess, he could still charm any girl. And guess who just happened to be the girl in question? What happens next is a wild ride!
Characters:
Alena GorchkinaI'm a 19-year-old student, and I'm pretty quirky. I'm not exactly a beauty, but I'm fun to be around and always seem to land myself in weird situations.
Ksyusha TsarevaKsyusha's my best friend and classmate. She's always been the life of the party.
Nastya TsarevaNastya's Ksyusha's older sister, and she's got it all – a fancy apartment and designer clothes.
PetyaPetya's our friend Ksyusha's boyfriend, and he's always up for a good time. He's a bit of a goofball and loves to tease me.
Dima BelovDima's a total charmer, and every girl seems to fall for him. He's got those piercing brown eyes, and he's always up for a challenge.
Yaroslav ElizarovMy best friend Dima's a total social butterfly. He used to be a bit of a slacker, but now he's the life of the party.
Svetlana ElizarovaDima's sister Svetlana's a stunning blonde. She's been helping Alena with her makeover.
My Take
I found the book to be engaging and dynamic. It's got a lot of humor, which initially threw me off. I thought the characters were way too young – more like 14 than 20. Dima and Alena's interactions are a bit awkward, like they're still figuring things out. It's funny, but also a bit naive and silly. Despite that, I enjoyed Alena's quirks and Dima's genuine nature. Their awkward dates were entertaining to read about. I didn't dislike the characters at all.
The secondary characters were pretty interesting too. I liked how the author fleshed them out and gave them their own depth. Essentially, the main characters are just starting to build serious relationships and are terrified of messing up.
It's a great reminder that happiness is all about embracing who you are and finding someone who loves you for that.
The Verdict
I liked the book overall – it's easy to read and helps take your mind off things. The humor's a bit offbeat, but it's still entertaining.
Thanks for reading!
