Budget Laptop Surprise: Asus VivoBook Max X541N Review

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently upgraded to the Asus VivoBook Max X541N, and I'm blown away by its value for money. This budget laptop has a sleek design, an affordable price, and some impressive specs. After a week of use, I'm happy to report that it's held up well, with a solid keyboard and decent battery life. However, the matte finish shows fingerprints and dust easily, which can be a bit of a hassle.

Budget Laptop Surprise: Asus VivoBook Max X541N Review
I'd been using my old laptop for about 6-7 years, and it had started to slow down even after I swapped out the operating system. So, I decided it was time to upgrade to a brand new Asus VivoBook Max X541N. I was drawn to this model even in the store, not just its sleek design, but also its affordable price - it was 26,000 rubles from Euroset.
The laptop's modern design caught my eye. The black model with a silver logo on the case looked really stylish, and I liked the fact that the case was completely matte. However, the matte finish wasn't very convenient, as fingerprints didn't come off easily without special wet wipes. Dust also settled and was visible, which was a bit of a drawback.
The laptop itself was super thin and light, which was a bit of an adjustment for me after my old one. I was used to a bulkier laptop, but this one was a breeze to carry around. The keyboard was another feature that I really liked - it was a lovely gold-silver color, which was a bit unexpected for a black gadget. The keys themselves were black, and I found them to be really comfortable to type on.
I did have to get used to the placement of the speakers right at the base of the keyboard. I guess that's why I got such a clear, almost mesmerizing sound. It was a bit unusual at first, but I grew to love it.
I appreciated the lack of a DVD drive. I rarely used it on my old laptop, and I'm glad that Asus decided to omit it from this model. Instead, I can read any type of flash drive, which is super convenient.
However, there was one downside for me - the laptop was pretty loud. The fan was really noisy when it was working, and you could even hear the keys clicking. Even if someone was sleeping in the room, I had to go to another room to avoid disturbing them.
When I flipped the laptop open, I was surprised by how clear the matte display was. I loved that I could view it from any angle without any glare or distortion. That's a huge plus in my book.
I was also surprised by how small the charging adapter was - it was tiny compared to my old one. But to be fair, I didn't need a long cable since my workspace was close to the power outlets. The adapter itself was compact, so it wasn't a deal-breaker for me.
On the back, there were two little lights that indicated the laptop's power status and charging level. If the laptop was running low, the light turned red, and when it was fully charged, it turned green. There was also a slot for my SD card, which was super convenient.
I was hesitant to switch from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10, but I'm glad I made the switch. Windows 10 has grown on me, and it's been a smooth ride so far.
Now, let's take a closer look at some of the features of the operating system. As you can see, it's pretty straightforward.
The display was another area where this laptop impressed me - it was clear and vibrant. I was really happy with how it performed.
Battery life was another area where this laptop impressed me - I got around 4 hours of use, even when I was working online.
As for the specs, this 4-core laptop had 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive - not bad for a budget laptop. I've been using it to browse the web and work with office software, and it's been super fast - no complaints there.
I'd definitely recommend this device to anyone in the market for a budget laptop. It's a great option for those who want a reliable and affordable laptop without breaking the bank.
