ASUS Vivobook 15 Laptop

I've had my ASUS Vivobook 15 laptop for a while now, and it's been a total workhorse for everyday tasks. The build quality is seriously solid - it can take a beating and keep on going. Plus, the battery life is ridiculously long, so you can work or play without needing to recharge all day. And let's be real, the ease of use is top-notch, making it perfect for anyone who wants a hassle-free computing experience. With its impressive specs and affordable price, it's no wonder this laptop is a top choice for students, professionals, and anyone in between. I've used it for everything from schoolwork to streaming my favorite shows, and it's handled it all with ease.

A Laptop That's Got My Back for School and Work

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been putting the ASUS VivoBook 15 M1502YA-BQ579 through its paces, and I've gotta say, it's been a total game changer for my daily tasks. The AMD Ryzen 7 5825U processor is a beast, with 8 cores and 16 threads, and it's handled everything from web browsing to office work with ease. The 16 GB DDR4 RAM is plenty for most users, and the battery life has been a pleasant surprise. It's lasted longer than I expected, and I've been able to get around 8-10 hours of use with moderate activity. However, there are a few areas where this laptop falls short. The screen resolution is only 60Hz, which can be a bit jarring for some users. It's also prone to collecting dust, which can affect performance. The touchpad can be a bit finicky, and the laptop's speakers are not the best. The keyboard can be cramped for larger hands, and it's not the easiest to upgrade the RAM. But overall, it's a great value for the price, and I'm excited to dive deeper into the pros and cons of this laptop.

This review is my personal take on the product. Your experience with this tech may vary depending on your individual preferences, needs, and usage conditions.
Hey there! I'm excited to share my thoughts on the ASUS VivoBook 15 M1502YA-BQ579 laptop. I've been putting it through its paces, and I'm here to give you the lowdown.
This laptop is a total steal for the price. I've used it for everyday tasks like browsing the web, making work calls, and getting some office work done, and it's performed flawlessly. The AMD Ryzen 7 5825U processor is a beast, with 8 cores and 16 threads. It's got a base frequency of 2.0 GHz and can reach up to 4.5 GHz in Turbo mode. I've been blown away by its performance, especially considering the cost.
One thing that's worth noting is the RAM. The laptop comes with 16 GB DDR4 (2x 8 GB) RAM, which is plenty for most users. However, keep in mind that the RAM in this laptop is soldered, so you won't be able to swap it out or add more RAM sticks – something to consider before making a purchase.
The storage is also a major highlight. The laptop has a 512 GB SSD M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 storage drive, which is super fast and responsive. I've had zero issues with loading times or file transfers.
The display is a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920x1080) IPS panel, which is decent for the price. It's got a refresh rate of 60 Hz, brightness of 250 nits, and 45% coverage of the NTSC color space. While it's not perfect, I've gotten used to it, and it's been fine for my needs.
I've tried out a few casual games, and they ran smoothly, but I wouldn't recommend it for heavy gaming or graphics-intensive tasks. The integrated AMD Radeon Graphics is okay for simple tasks, but it won't hold a candle to a dedicated graphics card.
The operating system is a bit of a pain point. The laptop comes without an OS, so you'll need to install one yourself. This might be a hurdle for some users, especially those who aren't tech-savvy. I installed Windows 11 on mine, and it's been working like a charm.
The color is a nice blue, which I'm a fan of. It's a solid blue color that's easy on the eyes.
The weight is 1.7 kg, which is manageable for carrying around. I've lugged it to work in my backpack, and it's been fine.
Wireless Connection: The laptop has Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) Dual Band 1x1 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. I've had no issues with it connecting to my Windows 11 laptop, but I did have some trouble setting it up on Linux.
The Wi-Fi has been rock-solid, but I did have some issues with the Linux setup.
Ports: The laptop has a decent number of ports, including 1x USB 2.0 Type-A, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C with power delivery, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1x HDMI 1.4, and 1x combo headphone and microphone jack. One thing I miss is an Ethernet port – sometimes I wish I had one.
The number of ports is decent, and I appreciate the HDMI port, but I do wish it had an Ethernet port.
Webcam: The 720p HD webcam has a physical shutter and ASUS 3D Noise Reduction (3DNR) tech. The quality's just average, but it's not bad.
The webcam is fine for video calls and the like.
Audio: The SonicMaster audio system has built-in speakers and a bunch of microphones. The speakers are pretty standard for a laptop, and the quality's okay.
I haven't tested the built-in mic, but the speakers are fine for casual use.
Keyboard: The backlit keyboard has Russian and Latin letters in white. The keyboard's solid, no complaints there.
The backlight's not super bright, so I always turn it off.
Battery: The 3-cell lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 42 Wh. Subjectively, it lasts me around 4-6 hours of office work and some web browsing on the side.
The battery life has been decent, but I wish it was longer.
Charging: The laptop charges via a 45 W charger, which is a bit old-fashioned, but it gets the job done.
I wish it had a Type-C charger, but it's not a deal-breaker.
Body Material: The laptop's body is made of plastic, which is a major bummer – it's a magnet for dust and fingerprints. I always have to wipe it down with a cloth.
It's a real pain to keep clean, but I've gotten used to it.
After using this laptop for a week, I've come to a few conclusions. It's perfect for office work, students, and even kids. But it's not ideal for photo or video editing – the color accuracy isn't great, and it's not equipped with a dedicated graphics card. I did try out a few casual games, and they ran smoothly. I'm confident it would handle older games with ease. To be honest, I only use it for office work and studying, with the occasional gaming session. I paid around 39,000 rubles for it, and I think it's a fair price for this laptop.
Thanks for reading the review! I hope it's helpful for someone looking to make a purchase. Good luck to you all!
