A Sweet Treat in a Bottle: My Honest Review of Anna Sui's Sundae Violet Vibe

When I opened the cap, I noticed that the bottle is nestled in a plastic insert that protects it from external damage, and the bottle itself is securely seated in the packaging, thanks to this insert.

The bottle itself is pretty substantial, made from a combination of plastic, glass, and silicone. It feels like it could withstand a few bumps and bruises.

The base of the bottle features a purple-colored capacity with a scent, which reminded me of a doll's princess skirt when I turned it upside down. The base also has the brand name 'Anna Sui' and the 'Sundae' line written on it.

The bottom of the bottle:

The ice cream-shaped glass part is made of semi-transparent and matte glass with a bluish-green tint that changes depending on the lighting.

The glass on top features a decorative topping made of what I assume is silicone, with a candy-like sprinkling effect.

The sprayer works fine... almost: it doesn't clog or drip, but sometimes it might leak a bit if you press the 'whipped cream' button a bit too hard.

I have to say, when I first encountered this scent, I wasn't even aware that the little cap on top was actually a plug - I was about to rip it off, thinking it was the lid. The little cap is made of silicone, but it's got a special mechanism to keep it attached to the bottle. xa0

Pyramid of the fragrance:

Top notes: Whipped cream, Strawberry, Blackcurrant syrup, and Lemon zest; Heart: Jasmine, Apple blossom, and Lotus; Base: Marshmallow and Musk. Anna Sui's "Sundae Violet Vibe" and Burberry's "Her" are similar in their sweetness and strawberry-blackcurrant combination, but they're worlds apart in terms of direction - they're like two completely different desserts. I've tried to compare them side by side.

I have to say, "Violet Vibe" is a whole different story - it's way softer, cooler, and lighter. Not in the sense that it lacks staying power, but in the sense that it's genuinely airier and doesn't 'hit you over the head' with its presence. To put it simply, it's rounded, whereas "Her" is a lot more intense on me, which brings out a slightly unpleasant note along with the strawberry and burnt caramel vibes - "Her" feels less 'alive', if you know what I mean. If I'm not sure what to do with "Her", I feel super comfortable with "Violet Vibe" on. In Sui's Violet Sorbet, you won't find any harsh notes or iodine. There's a mineral quality reminiscent of pencil shavings, but it adds a sense of mystery to the aroma. Blackcurrant doesn't give off that 'cat pee' vibe here; instead, it pairs harmoniously with strawberry cream, citrus, and florals - the whole composition feels balanced and nothing feels out of place. The scent is like a light-as-air marshmallow with a fruity filling.

"Violet Vibe" is all about being carefree, playful, and lighthearted (we already got that vibe from the packaging). I wear it when I want to be a 'girlie girl', when I need to feel carefree, or when I just need a mood boost. It's suitable for anywhere, despite its seemingly simple and childish vibe. In the cold weather, it's more sophisticated with a subtle sweetness, while in hot and dry weather, the scent becomes more tart and sweet.

Longevity: for a body spray, the longevity is great - it doesn't disappear instantly. Violet Vibe lingers for around 5-6 hours, leaving a subtle reminder of itself. The scent isn't super intimate, but it's not a loud, long-lasting trail either. The dry-down is pleasant, with a hint of sweetness - it's a nice trail to follow.
