Met a Celeb at This Hotel, but Even Without That, I'm Totally Stoked About My Stay at Amra Park Hotel&spa!

summarizeEditor's Summary

I was a bit hesitant to book a hotel without a prepayment policy, but Amra Park Hotel & Spa turned out to be a total game-changer. From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the hotel's beautiful green territory, which is like a real oasis with plenty of space for kids to run around and play. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The food is amazing, with a great selection of dishes to suit all tastes, including traditional Abkhazian cuisine and international favorites. The kids' pool and private beach were a huge hit with my little one, and the peaceful atmosphere was just what I needed to unwind. I'd highly recommend Amra Park Hotel & Spa for its value for money, excellent build quality, and top-notch customer support. One thing that really stood out was the hotel's commitment to sustainability, with plenty of eco-friendly initiatives in place. The hotel's location is a bit far from the town center, but there are plenty of taxis available, or you can take a leisurely walk along the beach. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with Amra Park Hotel & Spa and would definitely stay here again.

A trip to remember!
I'd been away from writing reviews for a year, and it had been two years since I'd visited the beach. I booked a train ticket to Adler at the beginning of 2022, hoping to stay at the Grand Hotel Abkhazia. Initially, they booked me a room for the desired dates, but then the whole situation with the events kicked in, and the hotel asked for a 100% prepayment. Of course, I refused. And as it turned out later, it was for the best – last year, we took out a mortgage for an apartment. By the way, this year, I also wanted to book the Grand Hotel, but they still had the same 100% payment policy for booking, and given the current situation, I couldn't go for it.
But I really wanted to get to Abkhazia. So, I started searching for a hotel.
Since the weather can be unpredictable during the summer, and there are torrential rains in the southern regions, I wanted to find a hotel with a pool, preferably covered. This was necessary not for me, but for my 5-year-old kid, who's the reason I went on this trip in the first place.
After going through countless reviews of hotels, I stumbled upon the Amra Park Hotel & Spa and fell in love with it from the first photo. Of course, every hotel's main photo features the majestic main building.
I chose the cheapest rooms, but even by Abkhazian standards, they weren't exactly cheap - 21,500 rubles per day for two adults and a 5-year-old child. I know you could probably find something cheaper in Turkey or somewhere else, but we couldn't afford the trip to the airport, like in Moscow, and then the flight. It wasn't so much about the money, but the duration of the trip to Moscow or Volgograd, and having a 5-year-old with us. I was traveling with my son and mom, without my husband. We were in Sochi two years ago, at the luxurious Bridges Resort, but this year it had an unaffordable price, so we decided to go to Abkhazia.
So, from Adler railway station, we ordered a transfer - I got the contact from a friend. A woman met us at the station, took us to the car, and we drove to the border. She helped us cross it quickly. And then she drove us to the hotel. We paid 3,000 rubles. On the way back, we paid 1,550 rubles, ordering a transfer from a tent near the hotel. Although locals (not sellers) said you can take a marshrutka, but with a child and a suitcase in this heat, there was no desire to run on public transport. Even if it's not far, but still a foreign country.
We arrived at the hotel quickly, in about 15-20 minutes. It's about 22 kilometers away.
The hotel greeted us with a great view and a pompous reception.
We rolled in at the crack of dawn - 8 am - and check-in wasn't until 2 pm. They offered us an early check-in for 50% of the day's cost, which came out to be 10,750 rubles, but we declined. So, they gave us a luggage room and let us look over the meal schedule and Wi-Fi login and password.
I was blown away by the grandeur of the main building. I'm not sure what style it's supposed to be, but it all comes together in a really beautiful way.
We left our luggage in the storage room and went out to find a place to grab some breakfast. But nothing was open in the area, so we headed back to the hotel and went straight to the beach instead.
The exit from the main building to the beach is just stunning – it's a real showstopper.
It's just a 3-5 minute walk from the hotel to the beach. Check out the seafront, the beach, and, of course, the ocean.
First off, let's talk about the beach.
It's a mix of large pebbles and fine sand in some areas, which can get pretty murky when the wind picks up and the waves get rough.
I have to say, the beach is basically the hotel's own, split into two sections by a cafe called 'The Pier'. One section is easier to access from the main building, while the other is closer to our smaller, separate building.
Now, I know what you're thinking - 'will we be fighting for sun loungers and umbrellas?' The answer is no, there were hardly any people during our stay, so we always had plenty of space to spread out. To make getting around the beach easier, there are wooden walkways, but they don't quite reach the water's edge, so I'd recommend investing in some water shoes - trust me, you'll be glad you did!
After our dip in the sea, we headed back to the main building for lunch.
I'd been reading some reviews about Armar and was bracing myself for a Soviet-style dining experience, but we ended up in a lovely restaurant with a buffet-style service.
One thing that really stood out to me was the food - there was plenty of it and it was super varied and tasty. Reading reviews from this year on other sites, I was surprised that some people didn't enjoy the food here. They offered champagne in the morning, red and white wine at lunch, and you could buy drinks in the bar attached to the restaurant in the evening.
After lunch, we grabbed our bags and took the special shuttle to our building. If you walk, it's about 3-5 minutes between buildings.
Our building was a separate 4-story building with rooms that had balconies.
Our room was on the smaller side, but it was cozy. We had everything we needed: a bed, a sofa bed, a tea set and kettle, a TV, a wardrobe, a shower, a toilet, a hair dryer, and more. The cleaning staff did a great job every day, bringing us new water bottles. That was a huge relief, since I was worried my kid might get sick with rotavirus. We ended up using the water from the bottles to brush our teeth, rather than the tap water. And guess what? We didn't get sick at all, despite being there in July, just a week after the landslides and heavy rains that caused the floods.
I have to say, the hotel grounds are huge, and what really stood out to me is how green everything is. There are hardly any spots where the trees don't provide shade. On our first day, we spent most of our time just exploring the hotel grounds – aside from finding that cafe for breakfast, of course.
