Editor's Summary

I'm always on the lookout for perfumes that evoke strong emotions, and Amouage's Blossom Love is a wild ride. At first, I was blown away by its rich, long-lasting fragrance, but soon found myself underwhelmed by its lack of depth. This scent is a true chameleon, changing its character with the weather. Whether it's hot or cold, Blossom Love is a fragrance that'll keep you guessing. If you're a perfume lover looking for a unique experience, this might be the one for you. But if you're after something more predictable, you might want to look elsewhere.

Hello everyone!

I'm a perfume enthusiast, and as soon as I sniff a scent, a whirlwind of associations and images comes flooding back. Perfumery is about more than just smelling good – it's about emotions.

I'm excited to share my super specific impressions about the Amouage 'Blossom Love' fragrance, which left me both impressed and underwhelmed in equal measure. I've never changed my mind about a scent so quickly!

This review is all about the lovely and terrible Amouage 'Blossom Love'. Whenever I think of it, I'm reminded of a song from the cartoon 'The Princess and the Pea', where the main character's words and personality change as dramatically as my thoughts on this perfume.

Poor weather. The princess was lovely, At noon in the second hour The princess got lost in the woods. She looks: the meadow is lovely, The little cottage is terrible.

Good weather. The princess was terrible, At noon in the second hour The princess got lost in the woods. She looks: the meadow is terrible, The little cottage is lovely.

Now I'm stuck with the association of 'Blossom Love' with this multi-faceted princess! She's like a little songbird who can go from being sweet and angelic to whacking someone over the head with a shovel.

General Information

Product code: 159101817Volume: 2 ml (original sample)Year of release: 2017Country of origin: OmanFragrance family: floral

Description

Blossom Love is a gorgeous, alluring, and simply charming floral perfume for women, released by Amouage in 2017. The delicate pink bottle reminds me of a fruit orchard, giving off spring-like, sentimental scents of flowers.

The composition of Amouage Blossom Love starts with a mouthwatering heliotrope aroma, intertwined with a gentle citrus freshness of bergamot. As the scent develops, it becomes richer and more intense, and in the heart note, it bursts into a luxurious bouquet of floral notes – a silky pinkish-purple violet, a soft, honey-like rose, and a sweet, spicy ilang-ilang.

The light, barely perceptible, yet charming accents of amaretto liqueur add a unique charm and allure to the central note. The scent is finally rounded off by a subtle, noble smell of velvety suede, sweet, smoky notes of tonka beans, a gentle sweetness of vanilla, and an exquisite amber.

External Appearance

I was impressed by the brand's attention to detail, even in the brochure that comes with the original sample. It's designed in soft tones with an image of a blooming cherry branch. There's Amouage's logo and the name of the perfume below it.

The sample itself is transparent, allowing you to see the vibrant, saturated color of the perfume. Its volume is 2ml.

The mini-bottle has a transparent cap and a standard sprayer.

When I opened the packaging, I found a description of other popular perfume compositions by the brand on the inner side. In the center, of course, was the perfume itself.

There's a tiny note on the back of the brochure that reads: 'The floral trail of the blooming cherry blossom creates an olfactory romance with eternal passion.'

The edge of the packaging looks like this:

Here are the details of the Amouage Blossom Love sample.

Skin Type

I've got pretty cold skin that's prone to oiliness, and it just doesn't get along with Amouage. Their scents don't bloom on me the way they do on other skin types, so my impressions of the fragrance composition might be super individual.

Chapter 1. First Impression

Inhale.

I have to admit, the scent of this perfume is a bit overwhelming. It's like a mix of manure and cherry or apple blossoms. I'm not sure why, but it's got this super authentic, rural vibe going on. It's like when you walk into a private backyard and you're hit with the smell of fruit trees in full bloom, and there are these rose bushes that look like they're related to thorns, and then you catch a whiff of the barn in the background where they've got cows, piglets, and chickens. There's something about it, but considering it's a perfume, it's almost too much to handle...

10 minutes later.

I'm holding it up to my wrist, hoping to catch a glimpse of the beauty that people were raving about. Instead, I get a weird mix of dirty diapers, baby wipes, and powdery notes. I think every mom out there will recognize this scent – it's so baby-and-bathroom-related, with a hint of baby powder. I know it sounds gross, but I'm determined to see it through.

20 minutes later.

Hello, old-school aldehydes! You're like something out of a vintage Chanel, mixed with some kind of 'Apple Blossom' soap.

40 minutes later.

The perfume is taking me on this wild ride of emotional swings, constantly changing its tune. One minute it's all soft and pretty, and I'm getting sucked in, and then BAM! – some annoying note hits me and steals the show, and suddenly I'm back to the soap, the barn, and the dirty diapers. I'm putting the sample down, thinking Amouage is just messing with my curious nose again and showing me that this scent isn't for me.

Part 2: The Outside Impression

I grab a taxi, and it shows up early, so I'm in a rush. I grab the Blossom Love sample and apply it, then rush out onto the street. Out there, the scent hits me right away, and I notice that it works well with the fresh air. The taxi driver is an old friend of mine, someone I've been riding with for the past year and a half. We sometimes talk about perfumery. He notices my new perfume and says it's very feminine, with a sweet, floral scent. He associates it with a pink bottle and says it's the most pleasant scent I've worn so far, and I should use it more often. I ask him a tough question:

But I have to ask, does it smell like manure on the dry down?

I couldn't help myself!

I see a mix of shock and a resounding 'no' in response.

No!

Part 3: The Stalker

I'm back in Blossom Love, but I'm still trying to figure out my relationship with it. I dash into the pharmacy, make it to the checkout, and see a line – I decide not to waste my time and head to the nearby 'Perekrestok' store instead. A guy rushes out from behind the checkout counter, and I get a bit uneasy, but maybe I'm just being paranoid... He stands in line right behind me at the store checkout, really close... I'm thinking, 'stalker,' and after I pay, I hurry out the door... At the exit, he hesitantly calls out to me and asks about the name of my perfume!

What a miracle! Are men really drawn to the smell of manure or is it just me imagining things?

Part 4: The Transformation

Despite the winter outside, it's starting to warm up, and some snow is even melting. My hand instinctively reaches for Amouage. I'm amazed by its incredible longevity and the fact that I barely notice any unpleasant notes anymore. Maybe it's the weather, reminiscent of spring's approach, or maybe the perfume has just settled in, or maybe I've just gotten over my personal perfume 'glitch.' On the fourth day of getting to know it, I start to like it, but I'm not thinking about buying it – I'm just admiring the price and thinking about how beautiful the bottle is. On the fifth day, I start to crave it, and I apply three spritzes to myself. It's windy outside, and I catch a sweet, floral dry down on myself, and I get lost in the scent... I feel like I'm stuck in quicksand, and when I try to resist it, I get pulled in even deeper...

So, what does Amouage Blossom Love smell like on my skin now?

At first, I clearly smell a floral balsamic scent from heliotrope, with a subtle almond note from the apricot or peach kernel, which I assume is a hint at amaretto and almond.

My heart opens up to the most beautiful, delicate flowers! It's a creamy, powdery ilang-ilang, a delicate fresh rose, and a subtle fruity note from the cherry blossom! Moms, it's just lovely!

There are no other notes on my skin, and it's great.

Impressions

I'm blown away by a scent that's left me breathless and inspired me to write an entire review! I'm still reeling from the experience. That awful princess I wrote about at the beginning has transformed into a lovely little songbird in my eyes.

While I'm waiting for another sample of Blossom Love, I'm trying to convince myself that maybe I don't need it, but I can already picture my husband gifting me the coveted pink bottle and mentally rolling his eyes.

Conclusion

I highly recommend getting familiar with the fragrance at least through a decant or sample, especially since they're super affordable right now. To those who didn't like the scent at first or even found it off-putting, don't give up! Try approaching it again in early spring, and who knows, it might just win you over!

I hope this review was helpful, and I'd be grateful for your comments, likes, and subscription – there are plenty more reviews to come!

Until next time, stay fragrant!
