I've been thinking about getting a tiny camera for my place for a while now. It's not uncommon for people to get them for security purposes when they hire a nanny, but in my case, the camera was for my neighbor, who I suspected of sneaking over the fence to pick strawberries. I wasn't too fussed about it - I could just collect it and give it back. But after his little adventures, all the beds were trampled.
I needed a camera that ran off a battery, recorded video to a flash drive, and then I could watch it on my laptop. That's when I stumbled upon the Ambertek Q85S Wi-Fi IP camera with motion detection on Wildberries. The cost was 6,185 rubles + a 128 GB memory card for 649 rubles.
The package was complete - I could use the camera on a stand or just place it wherever. Everything was securely packed, and all the stickers were in place.
The camera came in this box, which was a nice touch.
Some people call it a mini-camera, while others refer to it as a video recorder. Either way, it's a pretty small device.
It looks pretty serious, but my husband said he doubted a camera that small could record good video. I was relieved when I read the manual and found out it had the original chip.
I charged the camera straight away, but the instructions were a bit unclear - it took me 10 minutes to figure out it needed more time to charge. Once it was ready, I inserted the memory card and placed it on the windowsill.
I've got to say, this camera is a stylish and convenient addition to my home. It's so discreet that I barely notice it's there, even when I've placed it on a shelf in my living room.
That's why I thought it would be perfect for keeping an eye on my little one when they're born. I mean, it's easy to set up and use, but unfortunately...
I read the manual, and it said I needed to download the app. There are plenty of online tutorials on how to use it, so I didn't have any issues. I inserted the memory card, placed it on the windowsill, and what happened?
Nothing! The camera was recording 5, 10, 30-second clips. There were loads of them, but the quality was... EXTREMELY POOR!
In short, the camera didn't capture anything. Just some random 1-2 second clips. Is that normal? No way!
I recharged it, and this time it worked for an hour before shutting down. The camera performed just as badly in my living room. No decent recording, and to top it off, there was no sound. I'm starting to think the seller duped me. I took it to a programmer who fixes electronics and installs software on computers. He told me it's a dud, just another fake product. And to make matters worse, it won't record decent video.
I was devastated, so we installed security cameras around the property. And, guess what? Our neighbor got caught! But this camera... it was a complete waste of time.
About a year ago, my friend had a baby and asked me for a camera to keep an eye on the nanny. I explained that it wouldn't work, but she wanted to try it out herself. She couldn't find the app, and at the time, you had to download it from the computer. She did, but the result was... a black screen. Super, right? No sound, no color, just a blank screen. So, if you're looking to keep an eye on someone in your home or on your property, the Ambertek Q85S Wi-Fi IP with motion detection is not the way to go.
I reached out to the seller about the issue, but all I got was a generic response. Then, I couldn't even find my review. Now, the seller is asking me to write a positive review for 300 rubles. And guess what? Lots of positive reviews started popping up after my negative review. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Writing about the features and functionality would be pointless when the camera doesn't even work. And now, it won't even turn on or charge. I'm starting to wonder if I got the original version of this camera. But I wouldn't recommend ordering the Ambertek Q85S Wi-Fi IP with motion detection from Wildberries.
The downsides are major:
It can't record video;Recording gets interrupted; No sound;Picture quality is terrible; It can only record for 2-3 hours at most. This camera isn't worth 5-6 thousand rubles. For that price, you can get a decent alternative.
So, if you're looking to buy a camera to keep an eye on your nanny, property, or just need one for a specific task, the Ambertek Q85S Wi-Fi IP with motion detection is not the way to go. After purchasing, you'll be in for a world of disappointment and a lighter wallet.
The Ambertek Q85S Wi-Fi IP with motion detection deserves the lowest rating possible!
Thanks for reading! I hope my review was helpful!
