The Troubled Teenager: A Mixed Bag of Emotions

summarizeEditor's Summary

This Russian TV series is a wild ride, with a protagonist who's equal parts infuriating and fascinating. Alisa's got some serious attitude, but it's the people around her who really make the show interesting. I'm hooked – for better or worse. The creators have done a great job of developing Alisa's older sister, Julia, who's the only one with any sense in the family. Julia's storyline adds a lot to the show, and her character is the highlight of the series. The show's got a great mix of drama and humor, which keeps things interesting. The pacing is pretty well-balanced, with a good mix of slow and fast-paced scenes. But what really gets me is the way the show explores themes of entitlement and the consequences of bad behavior. It's not always easy to watch, but it's definitely thought-provoking. I'm not typically one to get emotionally invested in TV shows, but this Alisa series really gets under my skin. The way she manipulates people is just appalling, and it's not just her behavior - it's the way people enable her. I've seen kids with attitude before, but Alisa takes it to a whole new level. She's like a spoiled brat who gets away with everything, and it's infuriating to watch. The show's creators have done a great job of developing the character of Alisa's older sister, Julia. She's the only one who seems to have any sense in the family, and her storyline is actually pretty engaging. We have Alisa (Elizaveta Ishchenko), who's a real troublemaker, always pushing people's buttons. She's got a lot of issues, but instead of dealing with them, she uses people like pawns in her game. And the worst part is, people enable her. They should be taking a harder line, not coddling her like she's some fragile little thing. It's not just Alisa's behavior that's the problem, it's the way people react to it. They should be teaching her some discipline, not letting her get away with everything. And the way they're handling her supposed health issues and vision problems is just a red herring. It's a whole different story they're trying to tell. It's like they're trying to say that the mother is a struggling single parent, and the father is an abuser. I actually really enjoyed the series, despite my reservations about Alisa's behavior. The character development of Julia and the other characters is top-notch, and the show's themes of family dynamics and personal responsibility are well-explored. Julia is much better than her younger sister Alice, and I think the director did a great job of creating a complex and nuanced character in her. Alice has way too much negativity built up, and it's clear that the director wanted to create a sad girl. But I don't see any sadness in the fact that she can go blind. I know people who have been blind since childhood, and they're happy to see even just sunlight, not to mention pictures. They don't mope around and complain. This Alice spends the whole movie making herself out to be a victim, and it's just not believable. Alice's friend Maya is a more positive character, although we don't get to see much of her character. The story is shrouded in mystery, and we're shown the middle of her story, hiding what happened at the beginning. Personally, I wasn't entirely clear on what happened between them and what motivated Maya. I've got to say, Ivan, a ukelele teacher, really took his own path and created his own world where everything works out for him. But then there's Alisa - not your average student. I didn't see any redeeming qualities in her behavior throughout the whole series. She's just a rebel, starting from her mom and sister, to her classmates in school. She gets what she wants, then loses interest, manipulates people. She's a real wild card. If you're judging by the actress, she's probably going to be the same in the future. Nothing's going to change, in my opinion. Even if her blindness is real, it won't fix her. And honestly, I'm not sure what the director was going for with that plotline. It just doesn't fit with the rest of the series, even though they're shoving it down our throats from the start. The series is made up of your standard eight episodes, and it's actually pretty engaging. It's easy to watch, even in one sitting. But can you really respect Alisa? Let each person decide for themselves. In my opinion, no. But hey, that's just my two cents - I'm not imposing it on anyone. \xa0
I'd also advise against showing this to your kids in school, as it teaches them some bad habits. They won't learn anything good from it, and they'll make the wrong conclusions.
