A Terrifying Japanese Horror Movie That Will Keep You Up at Night

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently watched a Japanese horror film that left me sleeping with the lights on. The visuals were terrifying, and the sound effects were so realistic that I thought the audio had cut out at times. The movie takes place in a subway tunnel, where the main character finds himself trapped with no clear exit. He has to navigate through the tunnel, solving puzzles and interacting with other people he meets along the way. At first, it's tough to figure out what's going on, but as you keep watching, the plot starts to make more sense. You'll need to pay attention and listen carefully to get the most out of it. The main character's conversation with his girlfriend before all the chaos ensues gives you a glimpse into his normal life before everything goes wrong. As the main character navigates through the tunnel, he encounters all sorts of people who are also trying to escape. Some are friendly, while others are hostile - it's like a real-life game of cat and mouse. One thing that's stuck with me for a long time is the way the movie explores the idea of choice and responsibility. The main character has to make some tough decisions, and it's like a real-life game of weighing the pros and cons. Will the hero find the key to all the puzzles and make it out alive? It's all in the movie!

I've been meaning to watch this Japanese film for ages, but I've been putting it off. I think that's because Japanese films can be a bit quirky, and I wasn't sure what to expect.
But, I finally dove in, and let me tell you, it's a wild ride. The visuals are terrifying, and the sound effects will leave you sleeping with the lights on.

The Plot
The main character, nameless, finds himself trapped in a subway tunnel with no exit. Well, there is an exit, but it's not immediately obvious. He has to solve a series of puzzles and riddles etched into the walls, and interact with the people he meets along the way. The tunnel is like a never-ending loop, and it takes him a while to figure out what he needs to do to progress to the next level.
Release 8 film 2025First things first, you need to reset, like hitting the reset button. I remembered a joke about resetting, and it made me chuckle.
Then you just have to keep searching for the next clue, and hope you don't mess up.
The main character has a conversation with his girlfriend before all this chaos ensues.
Release 8 film 2025And after that, he gets stuck in the metro...
Exit 8 film 2025 But one thing that's stuck with me for a long time is:
Exit 8 film 2025 Exit 8 film 2025 Will the hero find the key to all the puzzles?
Exit 8 film 2025 Can he find a way out of the situation?
Exit 8 film 2025 It's all in the movie!

My Impressions
The idea of the movie is really interesting - it's about how every person has had to make a choice at some point in their life. And choices come in all shapes and sizes. Some choices don't really affect anyone else, like what coffee to get at a coffee shop or which pastry to buy at the store. Or even which stock to buy at an auction. The only thing that will change is your profit or loss from selling it later.
A choice can't be right or wrong. Every choice has its consequences.
In the movie, the hero is faced with a really tough choice, and it's a doozy.
The acting is superb, everything relies on emotions, facial expressions, and reactions to different situations.
I've been in some pretty weird situations where I couldn't take responsibility for my actions. It's like, I'm just standing there, trying to figure out what's going on, and my mind is racing with all the things I've learned in the past.
Exit 8 film 2025Then I meet all these different people on my way, and it's like, I'm trying to piece together what's going on.
Exit 8 film 2025 Exit 8 film 2025And the thing is, I'm not just looking for a way out - I'm looking for a way to take responsibility for my actions.
Exit 8 film 2025But taking responsibility can be tough, especially when other people are involved. We start to think about all the different possibilities, and what if this happens or that happens? It's like, we're trying to take control of the situation, but really, we're just making things worse.
It's a pretty common scenario, where nobody cares what's going on. Someone's getting bullied in a public place, and nobody's stepping in to help.
Exit 8 film 2025People are just staring at their phones, pretending like nothing's happening, thinking, 'I'm not responsible for this, it's not my problem.' But really, it's just fear - what if something happens to me too?
Exit 8 film 2025The soundtrack here is incredibly powerful and adds so much depth to the movie. Petrifying sounds or eerie silence, and then these beautiful melodies. There were moments where I thought the audio had cut out and I was trying to turn it back on, but I couldn't figure out what was going on!
Exit 8 film 2025The majority of the action takes place in the metro, where bright scenes are often replaced by dark ones:
Exit 8 film 2025 I think the creator of this film might have used a similar approach to show the depths of the protagonist's subconscious and the processes that occur within, the turmoil they experience when making a decision:
Release 8 film 2025 Release 8 film 2025 Release 8 film 2025 I finally got the hang of this movie's plot.
I'll be honest, some parts felt a bit dragged out - I'm used to faster-paced storytelling. At least the movie's only 1.5 hours long.
It's not too graphic, except for a few scenes like these:
Release 8 film 2025 I found it really engaging to watch.
I really enjoyed the movie! You've got to pay attention and listen carefully to get the most out of it. It's all about immersing yourself in the atmosphere.
I'd recommend it to anyone who loves philosophical movies with depth.
I'd like to thank you for your time! I wish you happiness, peace, and good fortune!

I'd like to recommend some popular movies based on my viewing stats and reviews:
“The Maid”
This movie had me hooked from start to finish! Who else wants to SLEEP WITH A MILLIONAIRE?! Sydney Sweeney is stunning, and Michele Morrone from “365 Days” is a total dreamboat!
“I Rant”
I watched this film in one breath, and it really moved me to my core. John was cursing and swearing, but it wasn't because of his behavior - he had Tourette's syndrome. This film is based on real events, and it's a story similar to mine.

I'm still thinking about another film that's been making waves lately: Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut".
It's a philosophical film that's got me thinking with its stunning visuals and eroticism. It's a real mind-bender - what happens when a husband discovers his wife's desires for another man. It's a masterpiece.
