A Ring of Disappointment: My Experience with MIUZ

I've got a bit of a mixed bag to share with you today. My grandma gave me a silver chain with a cross pendant from Moscow Jewelry Factory when I was a kid, but I never really liked the design. Fast forward to my wedding, my husband and I were on the hunt for the perfect rings. We had a budget in mind, and what we liked started at around $500, so we decided to get temporary rings and swap them out later. I ordered some from another online store, but they never showed up on the day they were supposed to arrive, and when I checked the retail store, they weren't in stock either. That's how we ended up at the Moscow Jewelry Factory store on Kuznetsky Most in Moscow – it was the only one within walking distance from Tverskaya.

We walked into a small store with a limited selection, but it was packed with people, so we had to wait a bit for a consultant. I had also seen some ring options online and wanted to check them out in person. We were looking for classic wedding bands in white gold without any inlays. When we saw the rose gold option, we were stumped and spent a while trying on different rings, comparing them. In the end, we settled on the white gold ones (all my other jewelry is in white gold and silver), and we plan to get the rose gold ones for our 10-year anniversary soon.

Each ring came in its own box with a ribbon, but we put them on immediately since we'd just gotten married and were eager to celebrate. They also included a cleaning cloth and a customer card.

The consultant told us that the rings were on sale, but I'm not sure how much I trust those kinds of deals on precious metals. We paid for the rings and left the store feeling happy.

At first, everything seemed fine, but when I caught a certain type of lighting in a restaurant, I noticed a weird refraction on my ring. I looked at my husband's ring, and it didn't have the same issue, but mine had a noticeable strip. It's like a flaw in the metal, and it really stands out.

Under natural light at home, the strip is even more apparent, and now my eye keeps getting stuck on it. The glossy finish doesn't help, as it makes the flaw more noticeable. I've worn the ring nonstop for 10 months, and the strip is still there. Water tends to collect on it, and it's just how it is.

I wish I'd seen a more consistent design. I'm really disappointed in this purchase, and I don't think the strip will go away once it gets scratched.

Update from 10/24/2022: It's been 10 months since I got the ring, and I've had time to think about it. I didn't have time to send it in for a warranty claim, but I wanted to share an update. Here's a photo of how it looks now – the strip is still there, and it's still bothering me.

Looking at my ring with its noticeable defect, I wouldn't recommend Moscow Jewelry Factory, especially if you're planning to make a big purchase. Their more expensive designs still look outdated in my opinion. If you're looking to buy a cheap piece of jewelry, my advice is to carefully inspect it from all angles. Maybe then you won't be disappointed by these kinds of surprises.
