A Not-So-Perfect Winter Wear Option for Kids
We jumped the gun on winter shopping for my daughter, but not all of our purchases have been winners. I used to swear by Gloria Jeans' pants with their unbeatable waistband, but I had to retire them since they only went up to 146 cm in size.
As a result, we were excited to try out O'Stin's triacetate pants, which promised a similar level of comfort and quality. However, our experience with these pants has been a bit of a letdown.
We purchased the pants a month ago, and at the time, there weren't any discounts available. The size range was a major selling point - it goes up to 14 years old - but unfortunately, the waistband design is a major letdown.
The waistband is supposed to be adjustable, but it's just a thin string that keeps coming undone. I've had to constantly re-tie it every few meters, which is a real hassle. This is especially frustrating when you're trying to keep your child warm and comfortable during the cold winter months.
The fabric is incredibly clingy, and it's a nightmare to clean. I've tried washing it with a damp cloth and even using a lint roller, but nothing seems to work. It's like they're magnetically attracting every speck of dust and hair in the air.
The pockets are actually quite spacious, but they're a bit of a challenge to use. You need to hold onto the pants with one hand while trying to put your phone in the other, or they'll just fall out. The elastic waistband is also surprisingly weak, which doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.
On the other hand, the pants are warm and do a great job of keeping the wind out, which is perfect for cold winter days. They also sit well on my daughter's waist, and the fabric is soft to the touch. However, these are minor perks when you're dealing with a product that has several major flaws.
We've only worn them a handful of times, and I've already had to clean them multiple times due to the fabric's tendency to attract hair and dust. My cat seems to love them, though - he's always trying to get into the closet where they're stored.
In the end, I'd say these pants are worth the money if you're just looking for something to get you through a few cold winter days. But if you're looking for something more durable and comfortable, you might want to keep looking.
I hope this review is helpful, and I'd love to hear from others who've had similar experiences with O'Stin's triacetate pants.
Pros: Warm, keeps wind out, soft fabric
Cons: Waistband design is a major letdown, clingy fabric, difficult to clean, weak elastic waistband
