The Shepherdess (2019, Movie)

This 2019 film is all about a young woman who's dedicated to taking care of a flock of sheep. She's got a special bond with nature and the animals, and it's pretty inspiring to watch. You'll be rooting for her from the very start, and the scenery's not bad either.

A Major's Disgusting Prank on a Student: What Happened?

summarizeEditor's Summary

This movie's a wild ride that'll leave you questioning the morality of those in power. As a parent, I was appalled by the major's actions, but the drama was so engaging that I couldn't look away. The plot's got twists and turns that'll keep you on the edge of your seat. If you're a fan of dark stories, you'll love this one. But be warned, it's not for the faint of heart. The major's character is particularly well-developed, and the cinematography is stunning. The themes of power and corruption are timely and thought-provoking, and the message about accountability is an important one. However, the beginning was a bit slow, and some of the supporting characters felt a bit one-dimensional. The pacing was uneven at times, and the major's character was a bit too over-the-top. The ending felt a bit rushed, but overall, it's a gripping and thought-provoking movie.

Hello everyone!
I have to admit, whenever I hear the word 'major', I get a bad feeling. I've heard so many terrible stories about them - they're arrogant, cynical, cruel, and selfish. And to think they already have everything going for them. They live in luxury and don't know a thing about hardship. But I guess that sense of invincibility just gets to their head and they start acting out.
This movie's about the life of a major who thought he could get away with anything.
Plot
I'm a huge movie buff, and I've got a family - a loving wife and two little girls. My oldest daughter's off at summer camp, and that's where things take a dark turn. She catches the eye of this major, but instead of trying to win her over, he spikes her drink with something nasty. She blacks out, and he takes advantage of her.
But that's not the worst of it - he records the whole thing on his phone. When my daughter gets back from camp, she's a mess - she's depressed, always crying, and doesn't want to talk to anyone. The major's not done yet, though - he starts blackmailing her, saying he'll post the video online unless she agrees to sleep with him. She's in tears, but she agrees to meet up with him that night.
That's just the beginning - things only get worse from here.
Genre
This movie's a mix of thriller and drama. I'm not usually a fan of Chinese movies, but this one's a standout. They did an amazing job tackling such a heavy subject matter.
Starting off
I'll be honest, the first 15 minutes were a real slog - it was like, 'What's going on here?' - but you've just got to stick with it. The real magic happens after that.
Visuals
The yellow tint on the background was a real eye-roller for me - it wasn't always there, but when it was, it was a bit jarring. Other than that, it's pretty dark - and I get why, there's not exactly a lot to be cheerful about.
Runtime
It's almost two hours long, and yeah, the first 20 minutes can feel a bit like a chore - I'd even be tempted to fast-forward through them if I'm being honest. The story they're setting up isn't exactly crucial to the plot.
Characters
Lee - he's a good family man, loves his wife and kids, and would do just about anything for them. He's also pretty clever and resourceful - I mean, the guy's watched over 800 movies in the past year alone.
Other than that, he's just a regular guy who puts his family first and foremost.
Ayun - my wife Lee's sister, a great mom and partner. She rushed to help when she found out her daughter had been mistreated.
Pin Pin - a schoolgirl who got bullied by some nasty teenager. She's a sweet kid with those cute braids.
I feel really sorry for her. She's scared to tell her parents, fearing they'll judge her. But it's common for kids to hide their problems from their parents. And that's just wrong. Of course, not all parents are the same, but I'm sure her parents would've supported her if she'd spoken up.
Su Chat - that's a perfect name for the creep. He's got a bad attitude, thinking he can do whatever he wants, including messing with some defenseless girl who was already drunk. I hate people like him. Unfortunately, in real life, they rarely face the consequences. Usually, their influential parents bail them out.
Lo Shan - the police chief, wife of the mayor, and mom of the jerk. She's a tough cookie.
I have to say, the ending of this drama left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I get that you've got to take responsibility for your actions. But on the other hand, sometimes you just have to turn a blind eye and move on. Either way, the conclusion was satisfying.
The Final Verdict
I've got to admit, the movie really drives home the importance of family. And I'm 100% on board with that. A family is something you've got to protect, no matter what. It's where you find comfort and support. Family is everything.
A Few Thoughts
This drama is top-notch. It tackles real issues that we can all relate to. And the actors? Absolutely phenomenal. I'd highly recommend it!
