CoverThe author is Father Antoniy Borisov.
This is part of a series that includes "The Wise Donkey" and "The Kind Lion." I've been eyeing these books for ages and thought about gifting them to my kids for Easter.
However, I ended up receiving "The Brave Little Sheep" as a gift from friends. Eventually, I'll need to get the whole set.
BookSo, let's talk about the prices on marketplaces.
On Ozón, it costs 410 rubles with an Ozón card.
On Wildberries, it's a bit pricier – 434 rubles with a Wildberries wallet.
This little book was prepared with love for young readers or even those who are just listening. The stories and parables from the Gospel are told in a simple and engaging way, making it easy to convey biblical wisdom to children's hearts. The parables are a perfect combination of clear storytelling and deep meaning, expressed in a way that's easy to understand – no wonder kids love them so much! The beautiful illustrations create a special atmosphere, and kids will enjoy listening to, reading, and re-reading this book. And that's great, because, in essence, this is a retelling of the Gospel for kids.
BookApproved for distribution by the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Book design and size
The book is relatively small: 17.4 x 13 cm. I love compact books – they're easy to read with kids, and you can take them with you. They're not heavy, and they don't take up much space.
The book's design is a real treat! The illustrations are bright, beautiful, and done with love. The artist is Victoria Kitavina.
IllustrationsThe cover is sturdy, feels nice to the touch, and is beautifully designed.
BookThe pages are white, 120 in total. I mentioned the illustrations earlier.
The book feels great in your hands, and you'll enjoy looking at it, flipping through its pages, and, of course, reading it!
It's lovely to receive a gift like this – I think so, anyway. The book is beautifully designed with a deep meaning.

Our family's impressions
My 8-year-old son loved this book, and I think it's perfect for kids in the lower grades. For younger kids, a children's Bible would be more suitable.
We usually read spiritually enlightening literature during Lent. This spring, we read "The Brave Little Sheep" during Great Lent.
BookMy son read it both on his own and with me, and when he was feeling unwell, I read the parables aloud.
The writing is clear and pleasant, full of kindness. Each chapter ends with a main takeaway – I really liked that. My son did too.
BookWe read "The Brave Little Sheep" at a leisurely pace, discussing and thinking about the parables.
Reading great books brings us closer together.
Each parable has a deep spiritual meaning. Each one is written in a bright, engaging way. Yes, it's sad to read about some things, but in the end, joy triumphs. We all know that Christ is risen and gave us paradise.
Personally, I've come up with a main takeaway from "The Brave Little Sheep":
God is love, Christianity is a religion of joy and wisdom.
BookMy 8-year-old son's favorite parable was the one about the ten virgins and the lamps. He found it the most instructive. I won't share his thoughts on the subject, as they're a bit too personal.
Conclusion
There's no doubt – the verdict is clear: buy, read, and enjoy life!
I'm giving it 5 huge stars.
I highly recommend it.
CoverP.S. I wish you all a wonderful mood, joy, warmth, and light in your hearts!
