She's got a reputation for being promiscuous, and some people aren't afraid to throw insults her way. 'Slut' is just one of the lovely things she's called. At 29, Tennessee's seen her fair share of bad luck - like when she got pregnant at 16 and her boyfriend not only dumped her but also spread rumors about her. It's a shame, because she didn't deserve it, and to make matters worse, her family's always been judgmental. I liked that Tennessee developed a thick skin and didn't let the townspeople get to her.
TennesseeCruz CostelloCruz - the so-called 'monster'. He's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be. In fact, he's the kind of guy every girl dreams about, even the ones who aren't exactly 'free'. Typically, guys like this are trouble, and you're not supposed to fall for them. But Cruz is different - he's a real book character who'll make you squirm because he's so perfect. Yet, when he lets his 'beast' out, everything changes. Mr. Perfect becomes a lot less comfortable, starts thinking about his real desires, and finally decides to drop the mask. However, it all falls apart when he misinterprets someone's words or lets his pride get the better of him.
CruelTennessee and Cruel - this couple is unbearable even on the pages of a book. Cruel is right to point out that Tennessee is spineless, she's led by other people's desires, completely forgetting about her own. And then there's this ex, like a dirty stain on a white sheet, who really gets under my skin and makes me want to get rid of them as soon as possible. But how much the author got into this turmoil of choosing between what's right, what's necessary, and what she wants. Unfortunately, in life, we can't just do what we want, so there's 'what's necessary and right'. That's exactly how Tennessee swung between Cruel, hot and desirable, and Rob (ex) - disgusting and necessary. Notice there's no word 'right' there!
Very piquant and with humorThe plot is almost unpredictable until the very end, it's impossible to put down. I usually read books like this only once, but this book is one I want to savor. The author's sense of humor has won me over, especially.
