My Big Review: 17-Day Meal Plan Breakdown - Taste, Nutrition, and Weight Loss Results on a 1000 Calorie Diet
summarizeEditor's Summary
I was a bit skeptical about the 1000 calorie meal plan at first, but after trying it out for 17 days, I've got some honest thoughts to share. The portions are indeed small, but the variety of dishes is pretty impressive. I've got some concerns about the ingredients and packaging, though. Here's the lowdown on my experience.

My first impression of the meal plan was that the servings looked tiny - I mean, it's like a snack portion! But I guess that's what I get for expecting a full meal. 95% of the delivery seems to be designed for women who want to lose weight.
Honey Granola with Yogurt and Tropical FruitsI was a bit skeptical about the ingredients at first - I always read the labels, and I'm pretty particular about what I eat. But I decided to give it a shot.
I took a closer look at the ingredients: sugar, flavoring, caramel color, acidity regulator ascorbic acid. In the yogurt, there's a stabilizer, sugar, modified starch, E330, and E202. Not exactly what I'd call healthy eating.
Weight: 140 grams. Nutritional value per 100 grams: 206 calories. That's not exactly a light breakfast - 300 calories is a lot for a single meal.
I tried the Honey Granola with Yogurt and Tropical Fruits, and to be honest, it was a bit of a letdown. The granola was sweet, but the yogurt was just weird - it tasted like a mix of sugar and chemicals. The fruits were okay, I guess.
But hey, at least I got my money's worth - the serving size was huge!
Hello, lovely readers. I decided to try out a meal delivery service for two whole weeks. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting, but I was definitely in for a surprise.
I ordered the Welcome pack for 2 days and the Hit menu for 12 days. The total came out to 9,000 rubles, which isn't too bad, considering I'd have to spend that much on groceries anyway.
The first delivery arrived, and I was excited to see what kind of food they'd sent me. But as I dug in, I realized that the portions were all over the place. Some meals were huge, while others were tiny.
I tried the Tost with Meat Chili, and it was a total disaster. The meat was dry and tasteless, and the sauce was just a weird, gloopy mess. I mean, who puts that stuff in a meal?
But hey, at least the Chicken Cordon Bleu with Udon Noodles and Sesame was decent. The portion size was huge, and the taste was pretty good - not too greasy, and I was satisfied. The only downside was that the ingredients list was a bit of a mess.
Unfortunately, the cabbage and beef strudel with sauce was a total letdown. The meat was low-quality, and the dough was just a mess. The aftertaste was even worse than the school cafeteria's infamous toilet paper 'meat' patties.
But hey, at least the vanilla pancakes with raspberry sauce were a highlight. They were ridiculously sweet, but in a good way - the mousse wasn't cloying, and it paired really well with the other flavors. I ended up eating it in two sittings: one for lunch and another for dinner.
I tried the Caesar salad with chicken, and it was a bit of a disappointment. The portion size was ridiculously small - just a few leaves of lettuce, half a tomato, and way too much mayonnaise. But hey, at least the taste was spot on - it was seriously tasty, even if it was a bit of a letdown.
Caesar salad with chickenI tried the omelette with ham, mushrooms, and cheese, and it was a huge serving. The omelette itself was really good - thick and fluffy, and I loved it. Plus, there were three little crackers on the side, which was a nice touch. 155 grams, 174 calories. But hey, at least the ingredient list wasn't too bad.
After that, I just stopped following the numbers. Sorry, guys.
I tried the roll with rough chicken in a soggy tortilla, and it was a total disaster. The tortilla was undercooked and soggy, and the filling was just a mess. I'm not a fan of their rolls, to be honest. At least you can taste the chicken, though - it's not just a bunch of ground meat. The meat itself was pretty gross, though.
I tried the chicken and mozzarella sandwich, and it was a bit of a mixed bag. The bread was okay, but the chicken was pretty gross. And there were those salty cucumbers inside - I'm not a fan of those.
But hey, at least the dacha salad was a highlight. It was fresh and delicious, with all the ingredients I love - fresh veggies, herbs, radish... mmmm. The dressing was a mix of sour cream and mayonnaise with salt and garlic. I enjoyed eating it so much!
Dinner was two courses. The pasta with duck ham and satsivi sauce was just macaroni in oil from the day before. Not the most impressive dish, but the meat was actually really tasty - the meat itself and the new sauce and the walnuts.
I was excited to try the chicken dish, but unfortunately, it didn't blow me away. The tartlet was soft and not too sweet, but the filling was a bit of a letdown. The blackberry compote was a nice touch, but it was barely visible in the photo. The sauce was also not too sweet, which I appreciated, but overall, it was just okay. I ate it quickly, but it didn't leave a lasting impression.
Now that I've got my new weight loss meal plan, which is 1000 calories a day, I'm excited to see how it goes. In this new plan, I've got food for three days in advance, so I'll be eating yesterday's leftovers tomorrow, and tomorrow's leftovers the day after tomorrow. I've got four meals a day, which is a nice change of pace.
Four meals a day is a game-changer for me.
I was not expecting the worst-case scenario to happen... Foreign objects in my food! Right in my first breakfast dish.
At first, I see something blue (yay, something colorful, or I wouldn't have noticed it if it was beige) and I thought it was a piece of the packaging cardboard. I started digging, and then I hit the foil. A small piece of something. But it looked like colored cardboard and super thick metal foil.
It was really disappointing and gross. Obviously, it's a sanitation issue.
I reached out to customer support, and they gave me an extra three days as a bonus. So, instead of 12 days, I got 15 days of battery life. I took the bonus. They said they were sorry and would look into it.
Today's menu looks great! I'm enjoying everything I'm eating, and I love it all.
Steamed fish patty with Aioli sauce and spaghetti - it turned out to be super tasty! The fish patty was great, and the spaghetti was a perfect match. It's delicious, even if it's simple.
Pozharsky patty with mushroom sauce and barley - it's also super tasty: the chicken patty and barley are a great combination. I already don't read the ingredients, it's all the same to me.
Butternut Squash and Artichoke Salad! What a unique salad: I'm all about trying new and unusual flavors. And guess what? It really does have artichokes! The taste is a weird combination of sour, salty, and sweet, with a hint of orange from the butternut squash, artichoke, and arugula. It's surprisingly delicious and unlike anything I've had before. But, unfortunately, the salad had gone a bit soggy... a bit.
And a new day brings a new delivery.
3rd deliveryBreakfast arrived in the form of sweet oatmeal: it's a great, healthy option that's perfect for a quick and easy breakfast. I'm really enjoying it!
I've gotta say, the taste is on point, but the ingredients? Not so much. It's like puffed rice with caramel apples.
The ingredients list is a real letdown: preservative, emulsifier E 435, food coloring, flavor enhancers, stabilizers Polifosfat sodium, lactylate sodium, pH regulator, sorbitan potassium.
I mean, how much can you cram into oatmeal? Food coloring?
It really gets to me. Everything seems fine, I'm enjoying it, but the ingredients are just a disaster. It's like they're trying to turn oatmeal into some kind of science experiment. I mean, how do you even make oatmeal? Just the grain, water, milk, sugar, and butter. It's not that hard.
⚙ ⚙ ⚙
The meat pie with vegetables and fun-gu noodles. Again, that awful meat paste (I've written about it before). It's like a patty made from the stuff.
⚙ ⚙ ⚙ ⚙ ⚙
The protein banana bread with cherry jam
It's really good, I loved the flavor: it's like a delicious little cake
New delivery. The courier showed up two hours early, I was still sleeping, but they still took the food (I don't care). I've stopped taking pictures of every meal, since I'll just be repeating myself.
I went big with the container and it paid off - I got a massive portion of pasta with chicken patties and tons of veggies. I was stuffed for half the day, and I even had enough for the next day. I ended up moving the rice to the next day, though!
For dinner, I opened not one, but two containers. They're small, so you don't get a lot of food. The first one was chicken and ham with spinach (which, funnily enough, is the same chicken patties from the morning). It was two teeny-tiny pieces, and the rainbow broccoli with truffle sauce and tomato pesto was amazing! I almost didn't see any red sauce, but it smells like truffles for real! And there were some delicious pine nuts on top!
So, let's take a look at the ingredients of this tasty dish.
E412, E415, citric acid, lactic acid, flavor enhancer, E202, preservative, antioxidant E385, and so on. That's just a part of it.
I'm so over reading ingredient lists. They're always bad. After a week and a half, you can't even read the names anymore. You just open it and dig in with your fork... what's in it, anyway?
I've gotta say, the beet and pear salad was a real treat. I'm a big fan of veggie salads, and these were all winners. The meatballs with noodles were a close second.
Next deliveryBut let's talk about the desserts - I got two sweet treats, and they were a mixed bag. The cakes tasted more like sports supplements and sugar-free jelly than actual cake... not exactly what I was hoping for.
Cake
CakeI have to say, the omelets and frittatas were all tasty, but they all tasted pretty much the same - it was what was inside that was different.
1. No cooking required
2. No need to think about where to get food or how to buy it
3. No need to go anywhere - everything gets delivered
4. There's always ready-to-eat food at home
5. No mess, because you're not cooking
6. No pile of dirty dishes from cooking
7. Great variety in my diet - lots of different dishes and salads
8. Sometimes the food is really interesting and original - especially the salads. I had one with truffle oil - that's not something you'd find in a restaurant for under $10!
9. They even counted my calories for me, so I didn't have to worry about overeating
10. And yes, even desserts were part of my 1000-calorie-per-day diet
11. I appreciated that they didn't bring me any plastic utensils - I'm all about reducing plastic waste
12. It's incredibly relaxing to know that everything's been taken care of for me - from prep to delivery
Bad ingredients! I try to avoid food with preservatives, flavor enhancers, stabilizers, colorants, emulsifiers, and all that jazz. I read the labels, but they're everywhere! In a rice porridge with milk, or a cabbage salad...Some dishes are just plain nasty. And I'm an all-around eater, I'll try anything. I'm not picky, and the meals from the 2-day trial pack were way less tasty than the meals from the 1000-calorie pack. The quality of the ingredients is subpar. Cheap, low-quality ingredients show in the taste. The beef patties in every dish are just disgusting. I mean, it's like a mixture of offal (I don't know how else to describe it). Get rid of it altogether.
5. Way too much plastic. I washed the containers and took them to be recycled. And honestly, we've had biodegradable takeout containers for ages now.
6. Not enough fish. Just 2 little patties? Come on?
7. Not enough veggies. You can get cheap ones like cabbage, carrots, beets, and turnips. I'd eat that.
8. I really wanted some fruit.
9. Some dishes (2-3) were overcooked and just sat there waiting to be eaten.
WEIGHT LOSS
My weight before was 54.5 kg.
I drink 2-3 cups of coffee a day with milk and no sugar. That's another 150-200 calories.
I've been hitting the gym twice a week.
After 14 days, I didn't lose anything – not a single pound, haha! I've been working out in zero, and my weight has only fluctuated by 200 grams.
I've already written a review about how much weight I lost on proper nutrition.
My Verdict: it's been an experience... The ingredients are subpar – I wouldn't buy food with this composition in a store. But it does save time and effort. The dishes are pretty original, some are disgusting, and some are just okay.
I didn't lose any weight at all.
Inside one of the meals, I found some random debris – check the previous review ⬆️
I'd give it 3 stars.
