Editor's SummaryTallinn, the capital city of Estonia, is a place of contrasts. While its Old Town and Estonian Maritime Museum are must-visit attractions, the attitude of some Estonians towards Russians is a major turn-off. If you're planning to visit, be prepared for a mixed experience.
Pros & Cons✅ Tallinn's Old Town is a unique and charming destination.✅ The Estonian Maritime Museum is an excellent place to learn about the country's history and culture.✅ The food at 'Tri Drazona' and 'Lido' was delicious and reasonably priced.✅ The city is clean and well-maintained.✅ The Estonian people are generally friendly and welcoming.❌ The attitude of some Estonians towards Russians was a major disappointment.❌ The second hotel we stayed in had unfriendly staff.❌ The Estonian Maritime Museum was not well-signposted.❌ The Old Town was crowded and noisy.❌ The food at the Estonian Maritime Museum was overpriced.IntroductionAs a traveler, I have always been drawn to exploring new destinations. Estonia, with its beautiful landscapes and charming atmosphere, was a place I was eager to visit. However, my experience was marred by the attitude of some Estonians towards Russians.
Getting ThereThe journey to Tallinn was relatively smooth, with both times crossing the border quickly. The first time, the Estonian border control did not ask any questions, while the second time, they requested a voucher for accommodation in a paper format, although this is not necessary.
AccommodationWe stayed in apartments near the city center on both occasions. The first time, we rented a spacious apartment from a friendly Estonian host who showed us around and was welcoming. The second time, we stayed in a small hotel, but the staff was unfriendly and uncooperative.
AttractionsTallinn's Old Town is a must-visit, with its cobblestone streets and medieval atmosphere. We walked there from our accommodation and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the city. The Estonian Maritime Museum was also a highlight, with its interesting exhibits and interactive displays.
Food and DrinkWe discovered two great places to eat: 'Tri Drazona' and 'Lido'. The former is a medieval-style tavern with delicious food and reasonable prices, while the latter is a cozy cafe with a wide range of options and friendly staff.
