Introduction

Welcome to my review of 'Guess Love,' a captivating novel by Asya Lavrinovich. If you're new to her works, this book is an excellent starting point.

Book Details

Price: Approximately 500 rubles.Publication Year: 2023.Publisher: Like Book.Series: Young Adult. Instahit. Romance.Where to Buy: Marketplaces and bookstores.

Book Design

The hardcover has glossy elements and looks stunning. The romantic theme unfolds over a month before New Year's Eve.

Content

The book features a playlist at the beginning, which didn't particularly appeal to me. I prefer heavy music. The back cover has an annotation, which, although not very intriguing, didn't disappoint me.

Characteristics

Number of Pages: 320.Book Size: 207x133x22 mm.The forewords are vibrant but complement the cover nicely.

Structure

The book starts with a playlist, which didn't captivate me. I prefer heavy music. The end features an index. There are 20 chapters, which are easy to read and quick to finish. There are no illustrations.

Font

The font is standard size, not too large. The letters are printed normally, but I noticed a typo almost at the end of the book.

Annotation

Unrequited love is a problem, and what a problem! Natasha Zueva knows this all too well, as she's hopelessly in love. Just before the New Year's holidays, a real miracle can happen. Natasha will spend the winter break with her class at a beautiful ski resort. Who would refuse to meet the New Year with the boy of her dreams? And it doesn't matter that the object of Natasha's affections is completely unaware of her feelings. It seemed that nothing and no one could ruin her holiday. Except for the detestable Timur Makayev, a self-satisfied boy and the school's main truant.

About the Book

'Guess Love' is a story about school, friendship, first love, and relationships. It touches on the theme of bullying in school and communication between sisters. Asya Lavrinovich's novels don't contain vulgarity; the characters only kiss and hug. The recommended age is 16+.

Plot (In My Own Words, Without Spoilers)

Natasha Zueva is 17 years old. She's in love with her geography teacher, Anton Vladyimirovich, who is unaware of her feelings. The girl catches almost every word he says and always tries to look her best on his lessons.

Timur Makayev is Natasha's classmate. At first glance, he seems like a negative character - a truant and a bully. But it's not that simple.

Characters

Natasha ZuevaClass president, talented, and initiative. In love with her teacher but doesn't take any action.

Anton Vladyimirovich ZolotukhinYoung geography teacher, around 24 years old. Handsome, polite, and a bit shy. Half the school is in love with him. Natasha calls him 'Zolotko.'

Yana KazanzevaNatasha's classmate and best friend. She supports Natasha in everything but gradually starts keeping secrets from her.

AlyonaNatasha's 21-year-old sister. The 'ideal' sister, always praised by their mother.

Edvard KrayevetsAlyona's fiancé. A sly character.

Timur MakayevNatasha's classmate. At first glance, he seems like a negative character - a truant and a bully. But it's not that simple.

My Opinion

'Guess Love' is the sixth book by Asya Lavrinovich that I've read. I think it's the most enjoyable one so far. The plot is often simple, but there are many interesting characters, a good pace, and some unexpected twists. The main storyline revolves around first love, but the story doesn't feel too 'sappy.'

Through Alyona and Edvard's story, the book conveys the importance of listening to your loved ones and trusting them. It also highlights the need to recognize abuse on time. Through the sisters' relationships, the book shows that it's essential to take the first step, as family ties are among the most important.

Through the characters' relationships and thoughts, the book touches on many teenage problems - unrequited love, self-doubt, anxiety, and fear of opening up about one's feelings. While reading, I didn't feel that the characters were too young, like in 'A Kiss Under the Apple Tree.' I can easily believe they're 17-18 years old.

The book is easy to read and doesn't leave a bad aftertaste. There were moments when I wanted to cry. I didn't strongly connect with Natasha's love story, but Anton Vladyimirovich and Timur's actions impressed me. I think the male characters in the book are more vivid and interesting than the female ones.

Conclusion

'Guess Love' is a good book, and I'd rate it 4 out of 5. It's perfect for those who want to get familiar with Asya Lavrinovich's work.
