My 14-Day Ordeal with a Misbehaving Cat and How I Fixed It - With Photos!

We were off on a two-week vacation, and our cat was left behind in its own home. But the plan didn't quite work out. People often think dogs get attached to their owners, and cats to their environment. Maybe some cats just don't have strong feelings towards their owners, but definitely not Oriental breed cats.

As our vacation was coming to an end, the person taking care of our cat started sending us photos with questions - WHAT TO DO WITH THIS? The photos showed injuries. With only two days left before our return, I told them not to do anything. We'll sort it out when we get back.

We get back, and our cat's ears are a mess. One ear's fine, but the other's all swollen and hot-looking. I gave him some Zodaka, and the next day, his ears were perked up. However, there were these clear bubbles inside his ear, which later burst and turned into bloody wounds, followed by sores.

The worst part was when our cat would use his hind legs to scratch his ears, and blood would flow all over again, followed by new sores.

We had two options - the person taking care of our cat was giving him lots of treats, like wet food Perfekt Fit, or the stress caused by my absence.

Of course, I took him to the vet.

If I had to sum it up, they basically told me the same thing I'd already said, but in more medical terms. They added that it was probably due to a flea infestation!

One word - treat the parasites.

I bought everything they recommended - flea control, stress-relieving pheromones, ear cleaning solution, and more. But it didn't work.

I lost it and went online. I started reading reviews to find a product that would help with the itching and the weird ear inflammation. And I found it.

So, Apicenna Stop-Itch Suspension for Cats

Where to buy: OnlinePrice: Around 500 rublesWeight: 10 mlCountry of origin: RussiaShelf life: 2 years.

The product comes in a cardboard box with a plastic bottle and a plastic cap. The cap is ribbed to make it easier to open.

What's interesting is that there's also a dosing syringe and, of course, the instructions.

Administering the suspension to my cat was a bit tricky, and I ended up giving it to them in the evening more often than in the morning, as recommended.

I had a hard time giving my cat the suspension in the mornings, so I usually ended up doing it in the evenings.

The active ingredients are triamcinolone, pyridoxine, riboflavin, nicotinamide, and methionine at 1mg/2mg/4mg/10mg/20mg respectively.

The manufacturer's description says that this suspension is for internal use and is prescribed for cats suffering from skin allergies and inflammatory conditions (atopic dermatitis, eczema, diffused neurodermatitis, flea allergy dermatitis, and insect bites).

The liquid is quite thick, similar to a liquid yogurt.

It's a dark yellow color.

The aroma is strong and pungent, but not unbearable.

I followed the instructions and gave my cat 2.5ml for four days, then halved the dose for another eight days.

It was tough, as my cat quickly realized what was going on and would try to avoid me.

Here's a photo of the progress - on the second day, the itching and scratching significantly reduced, and I stopped waking up to the sound of my cat's frantic scratching.

My cat finally started sleeping with me, which was a huge relief. Before starting Stop-Zud, my cat was extremely anxious and couldn't settle down, making it hard for me to sleep too.

The medication works quickly, and I saw noticeable results right away.

And here's a photo from yesterday - most of the sores have cleared up, and my cat seems much happier and more relaxed.

I was worried that after stopping the medication, the symptoms would return, and indeed, on the edge of my cat's ears, there were two small sores that appeared immediately after stopping the treatment, but they went away quickly.

What a relief it was to finally figure out that my trip to the vet was a total waste of time. The only good thing that came out of it was a quick ear inspection, and they confirmed it wasn't a tick.

Let me emphasize that my cat's itchiness was clearly a stress reaction. I'm not sure how this stuff would work in other situations.

Hands down, I'd recommend this budget-friendly and effective solution.

Thanks for stopping by!
