Editor's Summary
I've been using Tide capsules for years, and I gotta say, they're still one of my go-to laundry essentials. But, there's one major downside - that cardboard packaging is a total pain to open! Despite that, I love how easy they are to use, and they do a great job of leaving my clothes smelling fresh and clean. However, I've noticed they can be a bit harsh on my whites, and sometimes they don't get all the stains out on the first try.
Specifications
Hey guys, I'm still a huge fan of Tide capsules - I've been using them since they first hit the market. I love how easy they are to use: just toss one in the washing machine drum and you're good to go! No more scrubbing away at the detergent compartment. I remember when they used to come in plastic packaging, which was perfect for storing them in the bathroom, even with the higher humidity levels.
Now they come in cardboard packaging.
I have to say, it's a bit of a pain to open them. You need to do a little dance - remove the paper sticker on the left side, press the little circle on both sides, and voila!
Kids' clothes can be a real challenge to clean, and I used to swear by these capsules for that. They're still pretty affordable, too - I got them for 300 rubles on sale, which works out to about 30 rubles per capsule. Not bad, considering how well they used to work.
Kids' clothes can be a real challenge to clean, and I used to swear by these capsules for that. They're still pretty affordable, too - I got them for 300 rubles on sale, which works out to about 30 rubles per capsule. Not bad, considering how well they used to work. But, let's get real - they don't do so great in cold water. I mean, I've tried them on stains that were already pre-washed, and they just can't handle it.
For bigger loads, I usually grab some gel from Wildberries:
NanoClean-pro Color Laundry Gel, 5L
Pronly Universal Gel 2in1, 5L
I was surprised to find that these gel packs handle stains way better than my old favorite, Tide capsules. So, why waste the extra cash?
I was a bit skeptical about using the capsules for smaller loads, especially since my washing machine isn't exactly the most reliable when it comes to getting clothes clean. So, I ended up having to do it by hand, which wasn't exactly convenient.
I have to give the manufacturer credit for the water-resistant packaging – it's a nice touch. But, let's be real, it's not like it's going to save the day when you're trying to separate the capsules and they all stick together. And, of course, the cardboard packaging gets all soggy in the process. That's what I call 'water-resistant'.
Here's a closer look at the capsule itself.
As you can see, there's not a lot of cleaning solution inside – less than half a capsule, to be exact.
For small stains, the capsules work okay, but honestly, regular laundry detergent does just as good a job, and it's way cheaper. Plus, you get five liters of it, which is a lot more than the capsules.
But when it comes to tough stains, like the icing from an ice cream cone, the capsules are basically useless. And I'm not even talking about just any old stain – this was after I'd pre-treated the fabric in cold water with a stain remover.
During my experience with these capsules, I noticed a few pros and cons:
- nice scent
I'm stoked to say that I've ditched the fabric softener with this product - it's just not needed.
Using it is a breeze, too.
The not-so-great stuff:
Without any sales or discounts, it's pretty pricey, to be honest.
It doesn't do a great job of tackling tough stains, which is a bummer.
Another issue is that the capsules tend to stick together.
It also struggles with whitening clothes, which isn't ideal.
I only get 10 capsules in a pack, which isn't a lot.
And if the capsules burst, the cardboard packaging gets all soggy and gross.
Honestly, I'd probably think twice about buying this product again. The results are basically the same as using regular laundry gel - and if there's no difference, why shell out more cash? That's a fair question...
Thanks for reading!
