Why I Regret Buying the Solomeya Brush with Dark Chocolate Scent

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been using Janeke brushes for years, but my experience with the Solomeya brush was a total letdown. It looks cute, but that's where the charm ends. The dark chocolate scent is nice, but it can't make up for the brush's lack of effectiveness. I'm still not sure what all the fuss is about.

Hello everyone!
I've been using Janeke brushes for years now, and I have to say, they're the best for my hair - even the famous Tangle Teezer can't compare. When it was time to upgrade my trusty sidekick, I decided to save some cash and try out the Solomeya brushes with scents. Spoiler alert: it didn't quite work out for me, and I'm still not sure what all the fuss is about.
So, Solomeya brush with dark chocolate scent.
Solomeya brush with dark chocolate scentIt looks pretty simple, but I think it's kinda cute. The brand has a ton of different brush options, both in terms of size and scents. I went with the medium-sized brush in dark chocolate - I thought it'd be a fun little touch.
Where to buy? I ordered mine on Ozon. I haven't seen them in any offline stores, but they're everywhere on marketplaces.
Price was a bit over 500 rubles, but I managed to get it for a bit cheaper with some bonus points.
Manufactured in the UK - that's pretty cool.
The packaging has all the necessary info from the manufacturer on the back. Apparently, this brush is designed to work with both dry and wet hair.
Solomeya brush
Solomeya reviewsThis Solomeya brush is made of plastic, and it's been made pretty well. No sharp edges or other defects that I could see. The size is small, but it feels nice in my hand.
Solomeya
{"html": "Solomeya I\'m not a fan of the smell - it\'s definitely a love-it-or-hate-it kind of thing. At first, I thought the detangling comb smelled like strong black coffee with a hint of chocolate, but the more I used it, the more I got annoyed by the scent. It\'s not just that the smell is overpowering, but it\'s also got a weird plastic and rubber vibe to it. As time went on, it just got more and more irritating. The only good thing is that the smell doesn\'t linger on your hair. I get that the scent is a big part of this comb\'s appeal, but it\'s just not my thing.
Detangling Comb Solomeya I liked the design of the comb at first - it seemed like it would be really comfortable to use.
The fact that it curves is a plus, even if I\'m not entirely sure what it\'s for.
Solomeya Aroma Brush The teeth on the comb are pretty straight and don\'t have any sharp edges.
I wasn\'t a fan of the Solomeya detangling comb with the dark chocolate scent - I wish I\'d just splurged and bought a new brush from Janeke instead.
What didn\'t I like?
The comb itself just didn\'t feel comfortable to use, and the teeth were way too hard, which made them feel really unpleasant against my scalp. They didn\'t actually scratch my skin, but compared to my Janeke brush, this one was a lot harsher. It\'s like they\'re made from a different material or something. It was hard for me to get used to it, to be honest.
Detangling Comb Solomeya reviews The biggest downside is that it\'s super rough on my hair. I\'ve got long hair that\'s prone to tangling, and my old comb was great at detangling it without causing any breakage. But this one just makes things worse - it tangles my hair even more and pulls on it. Even when I\'m being super gentle, I end up with way more hair on the comb than usual.
"}Another major bummer is that this thing electrifies my hair, which never happened with my old comb. At first, I thought it was just me, but the more I used it, the more noticeable it became. My hair even seems to be sticking out in all directions, which I'm not a fan of.
Solomeya comb with dark chocolate aroma reviews And another weird thing that I just can't wrap my head around, but this comb seems to dry out my hair and make it greasier faster. I have no idea how it works, but after using it a few times to comb my hair after washing, it becomes super dry and brittle. Maybe it's something the comb is treated with, maybe I'm just not a fan of the plastic, I don't know. It's a weird paradox - my scalp gets oilier faster, but my hair gets drier by the day.
This Solomeya comb is okay for blow-drying, although my old comb was way better at it). Personally, I didn't like the smell, but maybe I just have something to compare it to, or maybe I've just gotten used to being gentler with my hair and haven't found a better comb than Janeke yet. There was a time when metal 'massagers' were the norm 😄
In general, my old Janeke with bent bristles is way gentler and more delicate than this new comb.
That being said, I do use it to apply masks, and it does help with an even distribution, but you have to be careful not to pull too hard).
As for maintenance, there aren't any major complaints - I wash my combs a few times a week with a cheap toothbrush, and they come out spotless. What's weird is that this dark chocolate scent just won't go away, and I can still smell the chemical notes from the plastic).
So, to sum it up,
Solomeya's dark chocolate comb didn't impress me with its scent or performance. It yanks on my long hair, there's no gentle combing going on, and the other downsides are definitely there. I won't be getting rid of it, but I only use it for applying masks, not for daily combing. You get what you pay for, and I'll still have to replace my Janeke with something better 😄
Solomeya comb I wouldn't recommend Solomeya Aroma Brush with dark chocolate scent, but hey, it's all about personal preference.
Thanks so much for tuning in, guys! 😍
