Editor's Summary
I recently took my kid to the KB store and was blown away by their new toy collection. They had an impressive variety of insects and amphibians, each available in three colors. While I was eyeing the princess frog, my kid was adamant about getting the spider. We decided to conduct an experiment on the spider, and I gotta say, it was a real treat. The spider's ability to change color or light up in the dark was a total game changer. However, I was a bit concerned about its durability, and I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty fragile. But overall, it's a fun toy that's worth every penny, and with a little care, it'll provide hours of entertainment for your little one.
Specifications
I recently took my kid to the KB store to check out their new toy collection, and let me tell you, it was a real treat!
They had six different species of insects and amphibians, each available in three colors, which was super impressive.
I was really excited to see such a wide variety of toys, but I have to say I've seen more diverse collections in the past.
I was eyeing the princess frog, but my kid was adamant about getting the spider.
So, we decided to conduct an experiment on the spider.
Here are the details:
▪️Where I bought it: The "Red and White" store.
▪️Product code: AZ-538.
▪️Price: 79.99 rubles.
▪️Material:
polyvinyl acetate
▪️The packaging is super attractive.
The packaging has all the necessary information on it.
There's a little window that shows the contents, and you can choose your insect or amphibian for the terrarium.
❕The instructions are also super clear.
Here's how you do it:
1️⃣
Place the toy in a large container with room-temperature water.
2️⃣
After some time, the toy will start to grow.
3️⃣
Remove the toy from the water after 72 hours and let it dry.
✨First Impressions!
❕What the manufacturer promises:
Magic that lasts. This collection is sure to give you a "wow" effect!
Let's see 🙂
The toy is small and has a minimal scent, which is surprising. Usually, these kinds of toys have a strong smell.
It feels like a dense sponge - soft, yet springy.
The size is small.
When we first submerged the spider in water, I was totally grossed out by the slimy texture of this thing in its initial state. I mean, what even is that?
After washing it off, I submerged it in water again.
Waiting...
Fast forward to about an hour later, and this thing had turned a weird shade of pale and had grown slightly in size.
According to the instructions, I was supposed to wait at least 24 hours, but 72 hours is recommended.
I had no idea how big it would get, since all the other grow toys I've seen just didn't grow at all.
After leaving it in water for a day, the water started to get a bit murky, and this thing had grown quite a bit in size.
And after three days, here's the result.
This is a freakin' monster! I mean, it's supposed to be a spider, but it looks more like a giant crab or something.
By the way, the spider still can't fully stretch out its body, and there's a small dent on its belly. Either that's a defect or it's just a weird design quirk.
And this is the moment when I was like, 'Whoa, this is crazy!'
This thing has grown to about five times its original size, I'd say.
And the texture? Still super soft and squishy.
My cat is totally fascinated by this thing and has been watching it grow with great interest.
▪️The toy claims two effects: either it glows in the dark or changes color.
I was expecting it to glow in the dark, but it didn't, and the color change wasn't that impressive either. It just got really pale in room-temperature water.
But, it did change color dramatically in warm, almost hot water.
It turned a pale green.
...And that's not all.
❕What else can you do with this thing?
You can freeze it, heat it up, dry it out, and then put it in water.
What??!!
I didn't dare try heating it up, to be honest.
But freezing it was a breeze.
🥶 The spider went into the freezer. What happened to it?
After freezing, the spider gained a more defined, fixed, and stable shape.
Just be careful, though. In this state, the toy is easy to break.
One of the legs broke 🫤
✨ The verdict.
Initially, I was super negative and wanted to write a scathing review.
But after seeing the results, I changed my mind.
This was an entertaining attraction 😁
❕The toy is slightly stretchy, but it can tear. It's not a super-stretchy toy. You can bend it, but the main goal of this toy is its many effects and changes.
🔥💓 The V-A-U effect is indeed achieved.
💓 The toy really does grow in size several times.
💓 It's reusable. You can put it in water, and it grows, take it out, and it shrinks. You can do this many, many times.
💓 It changes color or glows in the dark.
💓 You can freeze it. Although, the toy does become more fragile.
▪️I haven't tried heating it up, to be honest, I'm a bit scared. Can't say anything about that.
I'd definitely recommend buying this! Now I really want the frog for myself too! 🐸
Another new find in my collection.
Check out this new find in my collection! What is this adorable little guy? 💓 It's a Chinese dragon toy called Lung
