Editor's Summary
I've been using Huggies Elite Soft diapers for my second kid, and I gotta say, they've been a total game-changer in the first few weeks. My tiny baby was born weighing just 3 kg, and I was worried about finding diapers that fit. But Huggies really delivered. They're super absorbent, gentle on baby's skin, and come in a variety of sizes, including newborn. Of course, there are some downsides, but overall, I'm really happy with these diapers.

I've been using Huggies Elite Soft diapers for my second kid, and I have to say, they've been a total game-changer in the first few weeks.
My second baby was born weighing a tiny 3 kg, and let's just say he's on the smaller side. I've tried a bunch of different diaper brands for newborns, but they all seemed way too big for him. That's when I discovered Huggies, and their design with the elastic on the back really helped them stay put. But, they still slipped down sometimes, which was a bit frustrating.
The adhesive strips are actually pretty good, they stick really well.
The little ridges around the legs are a nice touch - they help keep everything in place.
The absorbent layer is super soft, and it doesn't make any noise when it's wet. There are little padding bits too, which is great - it's like they're giving your baby an extra layer of comfort. Although, I'm not sure if these are the latest model, since I don't have the packaging anymore.
Huggies aren't the thinnest diapers out there, as you can see from the comparison photo with Joonies (at the bottom). But, they do the job.
One thing to note is that they do run small, which is why I stopped using them for my first kid. They started to feel too tight, and I had to switch to a different brand.
For comparison, here are all the diapers I've used up to 5 kg:
Nani 1, Bella happy 2, Joonis NB
One thing that's immediately noticeable is that Huggies 2 are the smallest of the bunch, which is actually kind of a relief for me. I mean, my newborn's tiny, and they're designed for babies weighing 4-6 kg. But for my little one, they actually fit way better than the other brands I've tried - even when they were around 3 kg in the hospital.
Now, I will say that Huggies were a bit too big for my baby at first, but once we got the sizing right, they were great. The thing is, I'm not sure if this brand will continue to work for us as my baby grows. We'll see, I guess.
Another thing I've noticed is that Huggies tend to swell up a lot, which can be a bit of a pain. They do absorb pretty well, but I did experience some leaks, which was a bit frustrating.
The indicators on these diapers do work, though - the color does change when the diaper is full, which is a lifesaver.
At this point, we've gone through all the Huggies 2 diapers, and I'm not sure if I'll be repurchasing. Maybe I'll find a better alternative that works just as well, if not better.
