Editor's Summary
I gotta say, I'm obsessed with this hair remover from EXPEL Волосогон. It's a total game changer for anyone dealing with pesky hair clogs. Not only is it super affordable, but it's also gentle on skin and pipes. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it's definitely worth every penny.
Specifications
I'm seriously excited to share this discovery with you all - it's a crime not to spread the word!
I first came across this hair remover in a blogger's ad, and I was immediately intrigued. I ordered it on Walmart (WB) right away.
The following points won me over:
affordable price;unconventional format;just as I was about to take a bath, the tube got clogged - and of course, my hair was to blame;simple female curiosity - would it actually work?
quick info:
name - hair remover EXPEL Волосогон;volume - (2 sachets of 50g) * 3;shelf life - 3 years;purchase location and date - WB (22.10.2021);price - 289 rubles;production - Russia.
appearance
Since my son picked up the order from the post office, I was surprised by the number of packages he brought home - three of them, all wrapped in cellophane. I was calculating: each package contains two sachets of 50g, and I got three of them for 289 rubles, which means I got six sachets in total.
The packages themselves are quite eye-catching, despite their black and green design featuring Elena Letuchaya's portrait. She's living up to her surname, claiming that clogs will just 'fly away'!
засоры улетучиваются!
The back of the package has instructions for use and promises from the manufacturer:
Inside this package, there are two smaller ones - a Russian matryoshka. Each sachet weighs 50g and has detailed information on how to use it and safety precautions.I'll mention the composition here, even though it's not essential: ≥30%: sodium hydroxide; ≥15, but <30%: sodium chloride; <5%: aluminum (granules)
Looking at the composition, it's clear that this hair remover is essentially a strong alkaline substance, so you need to handle it accordingly.
I've got to say, I was pretty stoked to dive into the world of being a young chemist, but first, I wanted to give you a sneak peek at this miracle product. Let's start with the granules – they come in two formats: hair removal and gel, but honestly, the granules are where it's at. And the best part? They don't smell like anything until you add water. But as soon as that first drop hits them, watch out, because the pungent smell is going to knock you off your feet! The granules themselves are pretty cool, and they come in three different varieties: aluminum metal, blue, and these sweet semi-transparent balls that are sodium forms.
The problem I was facing
Despite my best efforts to prevent clogs, they still happened. And just last month, I started noticing that the water from the bathtub was flowing slowly, and there was no characteristic sinkhole in the drain. When it became clear that my hair had somehow managed to clog the drain, I was ready to call a plumber to clear it out. But thanks to a timely reminder from a blogger, I decided to give this product a shot first. I figured if the blogger was trying to scam me, I'd just go ahead and call the plumber.
My experience
So, I've got three packets of hair remover and a mystery clog in the bathtub drain. First things first, I carefully poured the granules from one packet into the drain and immediately heard the hissing sound. I quickly poured in a cup of warm water and timed it. After 30 minutes, feeling optimistic, I went back to the bathroom and saw a small cap of dirty foam in the drain. I thought, 'Well, it must have worked!' But when I turned on the water, nothing changed. The water was still flowing slowly.
At first, I was disappointed, but I decided to give it another shot and poured in the granules from the second packet. Another 30 minutes, more hissing, and the same dirty foam – but nothing had changed. This time, I was getting frustrated, but I figured it was worth a shot since I had no idea how many hairs were clogged in the drain. Maybe there was a huge clump in there that was hard to break through.
I grabbed the third packet, poured it into the drain, and for good measure, added the fourth packet on top. The process was the same: a cup of warm water, the hissing sound, and 30 minutes of waiting. And when I turned on the water, to my surprise, the clog was cleared, and the water flowed freely.
The proof is in the pudding
Unfortunately, I couldn't show you the before-and-after pics, but I found a way to demonstrate the product's effectiveness. I grabbed a glass, which simulated the drain, and a clump of hair that I'd been collecting from my comb for a few days.
Creating an artificial clogAnd then the magic happens:
The tube-like shape of the cup and the hair clogging it was a real pain point for me.I'd sprinkle about a third of the sachet's contents over the hair in the cup. Then, I'd pour in some warm water to cover everything. And, of course, I'd keep a close eye on the reaction.
Within a minute, a foamy layer started to form on the surface, with dark specks that I later realized were the hair breaking down. Ten minutes in, the foam had darkened even further, and it was clear that most of the hair had been reduced to a dark residue.
Watching the hair break down was like a mini-spectacle! The cup would start to bubble and foam, with the granules dancing around in a crazy rhythm:
After just 10 minutes, the VoloSonic had done its magic, leaving behind a dark reminder of the hair's presence. I'm not sure which component is responsible for the hair's demise, but it's definitely effective.
the verdict:
VoloSonic is a game-changer when it comes to dealing with hair clogs. However, since it's hard to gauge the extent of the clog, I had to be patient and use multiple sachets. In my case, I went through 4 sachets of 50 grams each, which I still consider a cost-effective option. And, of course, it's super accessible. I'd definitely recommend it.
