Specifications
Hello everyone!
I swung by my local Pyaterochka store today and scored some amazing deals on their New Year's sale. I have to admit, the discounts weren't super enticing just a couple of days ago, but now they're over 50% off on tons of items. My eyes landed on a light fixture I'd been eyeing for a while, and with a 71% discount, I grabbed it without hesitation.
Important note - the discounts only apply if you've got a customer card.Price - 99.99 rubles on sale (originally 349.99 rubles)
- on marketplaces, it's listed for around 500-600 rubles (for the exact same light fixture)
Honestly, I wouldn't have bought it for 350 rubles, but for 100 rubles, I won't even think twice if it breaks quickly.
Manufacturer's info:The light comes packaged in a pretty sweet red cardboard box with a Christmas tree and snowman on it. The back of the box has all the necessary info, so you can check it out before you buy. I tried to find one with the least amount of scratches, but I still ended up with a few at home - and let's be real, it's not like it affects how well it works or anything. The light itself is all plastic, except for the plug - which is, you know, necessary. It's got this little adapter thingy that you plug into the wall, and on top there's a transparent plastic sphere that spins around when you turn it on. Inside, there are these LED lights in blue, green, and red, and because of the sphere's rotation, it creates this totally trippy disco effect.I was a bit bummed to find that the sphere had some scratches and defects, but they're not super noticeable and don't affect how it works. I also got a bit unlucky with the plastic around the plug - it's starting to come apart. But honestly, I bought this light with the intention of using it for New Year's and maybe getting rid of it if it breaks, so I'm not too fussed about it.
One thing I really like about this lamp is the power button on the body. It means I can leave it plugged in and just flip the switch when I'm not using it, but to be honest, I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable leaving it on all the time. I ended up putting it in a socket with a slight incline, since the one I wanted to use was taken up by my Christmas lights. But it actually looks kind of cool like that. I stuck it in right next to my Christmas tree to create a little New Year's Eve party vibe. And you know, it reminded me of those old-school discos from the 90s - not that I ever actually went to one, but I've got plenty of photos from my parents' parties that I've stuck in an old album. Now I'm actually tempted to break out my old Discoteque Avia CDs and have a dance party. Okay, maybe not that kind of music, but my husband's already been busting out some moves under the light. I think we might actually have a disco-themed New Year's Eve this year. My cat's also been checking out the lamp, but I think she's more interested in the little rainbow thingy on the switch. It's like she's trying to figure out how to turn it on herself. I swear, she's got more patience than I do when it comes to waiting for things to charge.I have to say, I was a bit skeptical about how the lights would distribute across my ceiling and walls. But, to my surprise, they actually do a pretty great job of covering the whole space. The range is decent, but it does depend on where you're pointing them. I haven't checked how they look from the outside yet, but my floor is pretty high up, so I'm guessing they'll still be visible.
I'd say the purchase was a total win!
If you're looking to create a New Year's disco vibe in your place, I'd definitely give this a shot!
Thanks for reading, and happy holidays!
