Hello everyone!
I've got to admit, I'm a total sucker for cool photography gear, and I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting gadgets and accessories.
I recently stumbled upon this nifty little thing called a video light, and I just had to get my hands on it.
It's basically a ring-shaped selfie light, and I have to say, I was really impressed with how compact and lightweight it is.
I love that it clips right onto my phone, making it super easy to use on the go.
You can find this little gem on just about any marketplace, and it comes in a range of price points.
I actually picked up one of the more affordable options on Ozon for 430₽.

The seller's description:
This portable video light is a total game-changer for any content creator. It's a compact and lightweight LED light that's perfect for illuminating videos and photos, whether you're streaming, taking photos, or creating content for TikTok. It's so easy to take with you, and it's a great alternative to natural light. It's also a great addition to any studio setup, and it's perfect for product photography and videography. The light is really easy to use, and it's a great way to add some extra sparkle to your content.
Design:
The light came in a cardboard box, and I was really impressed with how well it was packaged.
When I opened it up, I was happy to see that it was in perfect condition, and all the parts were included. I also found the specifications for the light on the back of the packaging, which was really helpful.
I love that the info is presented in multiple languages - it's super easy to switch to Russian if you need to!
The light itself is a small plastic rectangle with LEDs inside - it's really compact and unobtrusive.
And check it out - the package even comes with a tiny USB-C charging cable!
But if you flip it over, you'll find the buttons for turning the light on and off, as well as adjusting the brightness.
There's a charging port on the side, which is super convenient.
At the bottom, there's a little clip that lets you attach the light to your phone.
When you're charging it, the light turns red - it's a nice little touch.
Once it's fully charged, the light turns green - it's a nice little visual cue.
So, the verdict is in - the Video Light has a really nice design. It's made of plastic, but it doesn't feel flimsy at all - it looks pretty solid!
The results are in!
I've been using this thing to take selfies in low-light conditions, and it's been a total game-changer. The light is bright enough to illuminate my face, and it's really easy to use.
For a visual, I've put together a little collage - check it out!
So, what happens when you use the Video Light? I've got a before-and-after shot to show you. On the left, I took a selfie in front of a mirror with some harsh LED lighting. On the right, I used my new Video Light to get the perfect shot!I've gotta say, the results are pretty obvious!
On the right side of my face, my skin looks way more even-toned, like it's been subtly bronzed. And on the left side, it's more vibrant and textured.
I'm loving the warm light setting! The contrast between the dark background and the lamp's glow creates this gorgeous skin tone.
When I'm not trying to get a tan, but I want that sun-kissed look in my photos, I just hit the warm light button and voilà – I get a similar result!
Plus, the photo quality is noticeably improved! It looks way sharper.
This effect is amazing for portrait selfies!I take a close-up shot of my face! Thanks to this, my skin texture is preserved.
With this light, I also love taking photos of my eyes, lips, lashes, and all that.
Overall, it's super useful for anyone who shoots makeup or skincare reviews.
As for the light's range, I'd say it does a great job when I'm close to it.
Since the light hits my entire face, many skin imperfections are basically invisible because they're not casting a shadow.
When I'm a bit farther away from the lamp, the photo quality suffers, and I start to see the texture nuances (pores, nose contours, etc.)
You can also see some harsh highlights that don't exactly add to the photo's charm!
So, to be blunt, you need to use the video light really close to your face!
This light is perfect for both photos and videos!
Even video recordings of your face will be way more polished! I've included some screenshots from my video for reference.
For me, the selfie quality is seriously next level. I mean, I'm using an iPhone 11 and it's a beast when it comes to cameras, so I'm not surprised. I'm curious to see how it would work with other models, though!
Next up!
I've got to say, I'm really impressed with how secure the light's clip is – it attaches to my phone and doesn't budge, so I can use it on either my selfie camera or front-facing camera!
I mentioned earlier that the light has three modes: cold, warm, and neutral. Plus, you can adjust the brightness to your liking!
Personally, I crank everything up to max because if I'm shooting in a dark room, I'll need to adjust the brightness anyway, and I want to get the best possible portraits. I guess you could use the neutral setting if you're going for a moody vibe and don't want your face in the shot, but I don't do that often, so I stick with max!
I mostly stick to two colors: warm and cold. I never use neutral because, in my opinion, it's just not effective – it's too pale and doesn't provide enough light!
As for performance, the light does what it's supposed to do – it lasts for up to 30 minutes. That's a bit short, but I guess the battery just isn't that powerful.
I charge it for an hour to two hours, which is pretty standard.
So far, I haven't encountered any issues during use – the buttons work as they should!
Another thing I love about this light is how easy it is to use! It's got just two buttons, so you can't get confused. In my case, I only need to press one button to turn it on!
This thing is so small that I can take it anywhere – whether I'm traveling, going for a walk, or just shooting some content. It's perfect for on-the-go!
I can confidently say that this light can replace my ring light any day. Despite its small size, it puts out a decent amount of light!
I've got a few light sources, but this one is by far my go-to. I use it way more than any other light I have!
Thanks to this light, I don't have to lug around those clunky three-legged lights anymore – just clip this little square onto my phone and I'm good to go!
So, after all that, I've gotta say - this light is seriously good. It delivers on all its promises! It's small, portable, and does its job like a pro.
I think this is a total game-changer for anyone who loves taking portrait selfies or running a blog! When you need a face that's well-lit, this thing is a lifesaver.
The only downside I've found is that it runs out of battery pretty quickly - about 30 minutes. But other than that, I haven't had any major issues!
So, if you're in the market for a new light, I'd definitely recommend this one. I've been using it nonstop, and it's been a total game-changer for me - even though I'm not exactly a pro blogger!
