Editor's Summary
Anex is a total disaster. Avoid them at all costs. Their guides are incompetent, and their excursions are overpriced and poorly managed. Don't even get me started on the flight delays.
Avoid Anex at All Costs
We flew to Egypt in February through Anex, and it was a disaster from the start.
Our trip was supposed to be a relaxing getaway, but it turned out to be a total nightmare.
First off, our hotel guide was absolutely terrible. We were told that the meet-and-greet would take 5 minutes, but we ended up waiting for 40 minutes. And it wasn't just us - it was just my family, so it was pretty ridiculous.
The guide, Bessim/Basim, showed us a ton of excursions, and we told him we'd think about it and get back to him. But he kept pushing us to book it right then and there, without telling us that canceling would cost us 50% of the tour price. The tour was $110 per person, and it was supposed to be this amazing 7 Wonders tour with diving, quad biking, rock climbing, camel rides, and even snowboarding in the desert. We chose it because of the diving, but we ended up taking a separate quad biking excursion for $25.
But here's the thing - Bessim/Basim didn't tell us about the diving restrictions. I'd just had surgery, and I was still recovering. I was wearing bandages and everything, and he didn't even bother to ask about it. It's not like it was hard to notice, either. I was basically a walking bandage factory.
And to make matters worse, another guide on the boat started arguing with me about how he couldn't possibly know about the restrictions. Like, come on - it's basic knowledge. You're supposed to know about these things.
But that was just the beginning. Our flight was delayed three times, and it was the worst flight experience of my life. We were stuck in the airport for 10 hours before they finally let us on the plane.
